Skill Tree is a new open source project that might interest you, to be done in D8. The goal is to improve university skill courses, like programming, writing, and statistics. How? By building software for creating good skills courses.
"Good" is guided by learning science research. For example, research suggests that frequent low-stakes formative feedback helps skill learning. The Skill Tree prototype has a nice system for that. A smooth workflow makes it practical for human graders. I use the prototype to grade 2,000 exercises in an intro programming course, w/o going crazy.
