I am receiving an error when I attempt to add an author to an existing article. Please see the attachment.
Also, I see that this new method creates a new "Author" page. I appreciate the fact that this allows us to have authors that are not users and also the ability to have multiple authors is a plus, but the downside is that the author's profiles are not coming from the "user" profiles. Basically, I have to create author profiles twice (once for the user profile and once for the author profile).
Is there some way around this?

Looks like your update to
Looks like your update to features did not go that well during upgrade. Check the Features page, you will most probably see overriden state for a bunch of features. Try to revert to code version if you can.
Did you successfully comple steps:
9. remove: sites/all/modules/openpublish_core/views/articles.inc
10. remove: sites/all/modules/openpublish_core/views/blogs.inc
during update?
AS for the second part of your question, it may sound radical, but the only sane answer is probably: Drupal users should not have profiles, because Drupal user is not an Author, in general.

I'll double-check those files
I'm fairly certain I followed everything, but I'll double-check. Thanks for the insight.
Yeap. It may have skipped
Yeap. It may have skipped those steps due to lack of permissions or something. just a guess.

I altered some of the views and tpl files
I went through all of the steps but after completing the upgrade I adjusted some views and altered some tpl files, which then caused some of the features to be overridden. After I reset those, the errors went away : )
Does this mean that if I can't tweak views without getting an error? Or was it mainly due to the tpl.php file alterations?
Hard to say, without knowing
Hard to say, without knowing what the changes were. But glad to hear it worked out :)
Once it's fixed, after upgrade, overriding tpls should not be a problem.

Thanks for all the help!
Can I ask one more question? I'm in the final stages of my site and see the end in sight, but am encountering some major issues.
After I got things working with the upgrade, I attempted to move the site back onto the server for live testing.
I followed the normal migration procedures. copied the files... imported the database... tweaked the settings.php... the site came online fine (the homepage looked fine), but when I went to one of the articles I received a ton of errors.
I really don't know how to read the error, but what seemed to stand out was that for some reason it was stating that the admin@localhost... user (#1 user) did not have permission to access the node references.
I don't get how that can be since I logged into the site fine with that login.
Unfortunately, I can't give you the exact errors because I am attempting to upload the site again and import the database again.
Hopefully, I can get it working without the errors, but just in case you might recognize what's going on.
Thank you.
