"overriden" vs "default" features

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I can not convert the overridden features to default after upgrade

have updated
have cleared cache
all the usual things, but I still can't get some of the features to change, strongarm is the most difficult as it is overridden on most of the pages

Just a thought: did you check

Just a thought: did you check (click) the corresponding variables before clicking the override button? This happened to me, that's why I'm asking :)

removing and starting over

MarkLaymon's picture

Yes, I did click them, have tried everything I can think of so I am going to try to remove all in the modules, then add them back again. Wish I was better at drush right now...

still unresolved

Do I dare remove ALL non core modules and start over?

If you have drush installed,

stattler's picture

If you have drush installed, then you can use that to disable and then enable the op related modules. Especially if you have upgraded from OP 1.6 to OP 1.7. Always do clear the cache and db update whenever you disable/enable any module. I guess drush automatically does that.

Disabling/enabling modules

irakli's picture

Disabling/enabling modules may not be a good idea. Regardless of what they claim, most Drupal modules do not deal with such "restart" gracefully.

Can you give more details about:
1) Which version/build of OpenPublish you are running
2) Which version have you upgraded from?
3) Specific features and components in those features that you see "overriden" status in?
4) Did you follow exact sequence of modules that was given in the upgrade instructions?

latest version of features

MarkLaymon's picture

I appears the problem may be the latest version of features. When I uploaded an older version the testing features was able to be overridden. But when I go to the main features page it is sticking on the "checking" mode.

I have run update and cleared cache several times. But it is still sticking on "checking"
Any suggestions?

Did you update Features after installing OpenPublish?

http://twitter.com/inadarei

yes, I updated

MarkLaymon's picture

I updated all the modules as it was showing some as duplicates between /modules and sites/all/modules and they we conflicting.
Now I have the copy of features that comes packaged in in 1.7.1 running.

That is definitely the most

irakli's picture

That is definitely the most probable problem. Unfortunately we had to patch several third-party modules to fix bugs in them and the maintainers of those modules have not, yet, applied the patches in their releases. Features is one of those modules. By updating module from its OP version, you basically lost the patches and that is what is causing the problem.

You need to use OP version of the patched modules, Features in this case.

Now I am getting this error on update and all pages are white screened

warning: array_merge_recursive() [function.array-merge-recursive]: recursion detected in /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/includes/module.inc on line 485.

Not to sound dismissive, but

irakli's picture

Not to sound dismissive, but these things get quickly entangled, so honestly the quickest/safest way would probably be to start from 1.6, update to latest build of 1.7.1 according to the instructions and not update modules from drupal.org (especially Features).

OP Article - views
still is not able to be overridden.

Did a total rebuild from 1.6
I have removed all other modules that were not in the 1.7.1 and started with a completely clean site. Updated database, cleared cache.
Everything else works find but the articles.

That's great news. Articles

irakli's picture

That's great news. Articles view is not nearly as problematic as what you were dealing with before.

Make sure sites/all/modules/openpublish_core/views/articles.inc file is deleted. Maybe it is still there because of permissions or something. That is my #1 guess for why you are still seeing views as overriden.

When you do as many installs and module changes as I did, the simplest things get over looked.
Thank you that was it.
