Taking this opportunity to share an email that circulated through the UM tech lists a while back. I haven't heard any follow up but it jives somewhat with the informal training/workshop that came up after the last meeting. The text is verbatim except I removed the person's name as he/she doesn't know I'm publishing it.
Hi all,
I'm a web developer at the School of Dentistry. Our use of Drupal is increasing and we're looking to sharpen our existing development skills as well as duplicate those skills among some of our other IT staff.
We're exploring the idea of hosting an on-site Lullabot [http://www.lullabot.com/] training session. You can check out an overview of their workshop offerings at http://www.lullabot.com/on-site-drupal-training. If we receive enough interest - and - if our first experience with a Lullabot workshop receives positive reviews by those attending, we would consider organizing more in the future. But the first step is gauging the interest of others within the university community. With enough interest from different areas of the school, we may find a lower cost way to bring in professional level Drupal training.
Would you or some of your staff be interested in attending a workshop event like this?
If yes, just reply directly to me (please don't reply to all) and, if you like, let me know which workshops (described on the Lullabot page) would better meet your needs. Of course, any other feedback you have is welcome as well.
We'll review the responses and come back with some suggestions.
I haven't received a follow-up from this person but could seek it out if helpful.
Kyle

Hi,
I've recently found out that the Lullabot option is too pricey (about $300 per person per day) so alternatives internal to U-M are being pursued. I'll post more information if/when it comes through.
So that they don't have to self-promote I'll put Switchback (http://switchbackcms.com) out there. They're in A2 and I'm guessing could beat the Lullabot quote.
Disclosure: I don't work for Switchback, but I have friends that do. And among friends and non-friends, I'd trust Switchback with Drupal training and consulting any day.
I'm a Drupal consultant, and have provided formal training in years past (mostly Oracle). I'd personally be willing to provide Drupal training to UMich compadres.

Another non-UM option

I second Switchback
