FYI...

I tried doing an upgrade on a virtual server with mercury to 10.10 and it wasn't pretty. :-(

I too am waiting with

I too am waiting with excitement for it, keep up the good work!

I was looked at doing that

I was looked at doing that last week and found some articles saying that Drupal does not play nice with Lucid yet, namely the latest version of PHP. My guess we are a month or two from harmony and then Mercury/Lucid would be a great combo. Using Mercury/Karmic 9.10 on Rackspace cloud servers for now.

Merucury 1.1

Greg Coit's picture

We've been working on Mercury 1.1 since before Lucid came out and I think we're getting close. Since Lucid is a long-term-support release, I think it's likely 1.1 will only be released on Lucid (though the instructions should work on older versions of Ubuntu and we'll be posting new instructions on migrating from 1.0 to 1.1 on your existing Mercury server).

It's true that Lucid comes with PHP 5.3 which can play havoc with some modules, but we believe that pressflow fully supports PHP 5.3.

I expect to have a Beta of 1.1 on Lucid out early next week.

Hope this helps,

Greg

Merucury 1.1 update

Greg Coit's picture

I've posted new docs on how to install the Beta of Mercury 1.1 ( http://groups.drupal.org/node/70268 ) and what the new template system looks like ( http://groups.drupal.org/node/70258 ).

Also wanted to let you folks know that we're backporting to PHP 5.2 for Mercury 1.1 until more Drupal modules support PHP 5.3.

And yes, I expect we'll see EBS-boot AMIs when Mercury 1.1 is released.

Good news... will Mercury 1.1. have EBS support?

BenK's picture

That's great news, Greg. Will Mercury 1.1 have support for Amazon EBS?

--Ben

That's great news, I will

oxford-dev's picture

That's great news, I will give it a go a soon as it's available and give you feedback.

I would like the stack that i need for a production site to be Mercury, which means either run it on an old version of ubuntu or wait for Mercury to be stable for Lucid. As Lucid is an LTS, and using the latest php etc id rather set it up on Lucid and not have to upgrade the whole server in a few weeks/months.

Great Work! ... EBS for Lucid on AWS?

I have been watching all the hard work your teams is doing on Lucid. I look forward to the AWS Lucid/Mercury 1.1 Beta. Second Ben's question with regards to Mercury EBS support.
