Are you a Drupal Newbie??
Web Easy Media is sponsoring a Drupal Basics class for newbies!

This class will teach you:
  • how to install Drupal
  • what Drupal provides out-of-the-box
  • installing and updating modules & themes safely
  • how to know if a module is a wise choice
Only local images are allowed.

If you plan on attending, you will need a laptop with a wireless connection so you can follow along.

The goal of this class is to give new people a structured start to Drupal. So because we don't want to clutter their heads with ALL of the possibilities of Drupal just yet, we ask that you only sign up if you are new enough to Drupal to benefit from any of the above topics.

Resources

Here's some resources for those of you who were participating in the How 2 Drupal class.

Requirements - http://drupal.org/requirements
Make sure you check the server requirements. This will ensure a smooth install.

Basic Installation Guide - http://drupal.org/node/628292
If you need more details, you might check out the installation guide.

Installing Modules and Themes Guide - http://drupal.org/getting-started/install-contrib
Great reference for the basics of installing modules and themes.

Clean URLs (Trouble shooting) - http://drupal.org/node/15365
Sometimes if your server settings aren't setup correctly, you may have problems with the URL structures. This link will hopefully give you some direction, so even if you can't do this yourself, you should be able to walk through some of these items with your server support.

Drupal Handbooks - http://drupal.org/handbooks
This is a series of topics that you can walk through.

Site Recipes - http://drupal.org/handbook/site-recipes
Try a recipe when you start getting more familiar :) It will probably open up new ideas about modules to use and configurations. Then you can use it as a reference for replicating some of the features later on.

And for the module collection we passed out the link is: http://drupalindy.org/class-modules.zip
