A newbie question regarding content in the center region

I, for the life of me can not get content to appear in the center region of the front page. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You are not alone.
It seems something else is programmed into the theme to appear there. But, you haven't "accidentally" hist on the right content type to make it appear. One way is to post a "block" on top of "content". I have been able to get a block there, almost. But, it seems "content" in the center of the page doesn't really mean content. Why this is done this way I don't know.
It really makes new sites for those without the "inside" knowledge look sorta empty. Perhaps, when the newest new rage for Drupal comes out this will be explained, but no longer needed as we rush to the new.
I also hope someone can give a simple answer that can be understood by non-geeks.

Best way to do it, it to place a block in "top of content".
Then new articles filled in the block will appear there.

I have a test site running with op2.0 and blocks in the center.
You can find it @ http://front.altior.nl/

Thanks for your help again. I

This is puzzling me, too

I am trying to get a block into the space between the left and right sidebars in context's openpublish-listing_pages-frontpage, but don't understand how to do this at all after lots of reading and experiments.

"Content" is listed in the context as a region to place blocks in, but not "top of content." Moreover, nothing shows up on the page when I add a Block to the content.

I assume that this may have to do with page-front.tpl.php, which does not print "content."

Nor is "content" defined as a region in my ..theme.info. "Over-content" is, but it does not show up in my context options.

I am sure this is all explained in some documentation somewhere, but where?

Bottom line is how do I fill in the space between the right and left sidebars to add things to my home page, or should I scrap modifying this context and start new with:

  1. A cloned context
  2. Panels
  3. Something else
