Hello all,
I've recently uploaded my portfolio-website but the website goes really slow... The transition between the pages sometimes takes about 4-10 seconds...
(My hosting provider is Servage.net).
This is what I already did.
- Installed Boost
- Caching mode: normal
- Page Compression (boost & core): enabled
- Block Cache: enabled
I've installed Devel to see what's going on, but I don't really know what to do with the output info.
Thanks a lot,
Greetings. Bob.

You have got some really long
You have got some really long queries. Look in the 3rd image. The top cache_get query is taking almost 2 seconds.
What would help is the specs of the server you're running on. Also is this a dedicated server or shared hosting? If it's dedicated then paste the contents of your my.cnf file, which is usually located in /etc.

Where is the database?
If this was a VPS, then my guess is that it is using Virtuozzo with vzfs as a file system. I can't count the number of times I saw this setup at clients and it is consistently slow for disk access.
But looking at servage, they seem to be doing shared hosting only. Yes, this could still be on a VPS, but you have to tell us that explicitly though.
Is the database hosted on a separate machine? If so, what is the connection from the database server to your web server? Could be just a 10Mbps or 100Mbps, and that is causing the slowness. To verify, try to run processlist and see if you can spot "Writing to net".

servage.net is cheap shared
servage.net is cheap shared hosting--you get what you've pay for. I've used them before and would recommend switching to a VPS host. Servage's MySQL servers have never been fast, which is vital for a responsive Drupal site.

thanks
Thanks for the comments.
I didn't knew there was a difference between shared and VPS.
Next year I'll try to change to a better host... Which one do you recommend?
ddorian, Boost seems to be installed correctly...
Thanks for the help.
Greetings, Bob.
Rackspace
I've not used linode, I'm sure is pretty good for what everyone says, also, you could go with Rackspace.com, they have several good linux distributions and their servers start small.
For example you could start in linode with a 512M server for $19.95/month or two servers of 256M in rackspace for $21.90/month.
In my case I have 3 servers of 256M, and I use one with varnish, one with apache and one with mysql and sphinx, and the performance is excellent for around $32/month.

I'll second the vote for
I'll second the vote for linode. I've been with them for awhile and never had a problem.
You won't have things like CPanel on a VPS. As matter of fact you won't have much of anything, just a basic install of an Linux distribution of your choice. The nice thing with Linode is their stackscripts. That'll basically install all the software you need to have a running server. There's even ones for Drupal and Patheon.
The other thing on a VPS that can be cumbersome to get running the way you might like is email. If you aren't going to have a load of email accounts, then I suggest going with the free version of Google Apps and using them to handle your incoming email. You can have up to 50 accounts with the free version and it's basically GMail with your own domain.

Yet another vote
Here's yet another vote for Linode. My life has been so much easier since I put each of my clients on their own Ubuntu VPS and then charge them to manage it. And yes, StackScripts have helped tremendously. Especially the one for Pantheon Mercury.
if i would write a long
if i would write a long comment it would be this. word for word from stackscripts to email and since the link to the 50 free email accounts is hidden(lil hard to find) i've bookmarked it : http://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain/new
