Updating OpenPublish Features module to remove "required" modules

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

We are running a 2.0 version of OpenPublish and are looking to do away with FeedAPI. The OP Defaults module lists this as a dependency in the .info file. Is it possible just to comment out this dependency so we can uninstall the FeedAPI module?

Yes, the only reason defaults

Yes,

the only reason defaults has dependency on FeedAPI is because it contains a permission for FeedAPI (not a critical dependency). Removing FeedAPI as a dependency from op_defaults.info should not break anything.

Unfortunately, Features UI does not allow removal of unnecessary dependencies. Beginning from OpenPublish 2.2 we started removing those manually from .info, but it's a very tedious process. I wish Features stopped trying to be smarter than the feature developer and forcing things. I think I've opened an issue about that in the issue queue at some point, too? Gotta find it :)
