Shanghai Drupal User Group (SHDUG)08.3.15 meetup review

The Shanghai Drupal User Group spearheaded by Raincity Studios met on March 15 which is a pretty Saturday.

Compared with last meet up, we focused more on drupal technical discussion. About 30 people attended this event and our professional drupal production developer Ronan Berder, Xiong xiong and Makara Wang brought their drupal experience and tips to those attendees.

Lecture:

Part1 - What is Drupal?(By Ronan Berder and Xiong Xiong)
An Introduction to Drupal & its Core Principals

We introduced some of the fundamentals concepts of Drupal, especially Nodes and Taxonomy which play an important role as core elements.

Part 2 - CCK & Views(By Xiong Xiong and Makara Wang)
How to build a simple social featured website in a matter of minutes

Using two powerful contributed modules we will show how to build a simple community website where users can post and review venues.

Part 3 - Drupal Theming (By Ronan Berder and Makara Wang)
The presentation layer: PHPTemplate basics

Drupal comes with a default theming engine named PHPTemplate: we will explore its basics and how you can make use of this flexible system.

Part 4 - Beyond the code(By Ronan Berder and Xiong Xiong)
What Drupal can do for you

Based on the previous presentations and some well know usages of Drupal, we will

explore how can Drupal help you as a developer and how it may benefit your organization.

Between every two parts, we had a 5 minutes’ short break for the attendees to know each other and discuss. And peoples who had problems on drupal got the chance to exchange their opinions or ideas with others. People drank, ate cookies, chatted with other attendees.The atmosphere was really relaxed.

Since the lecture this time dealed little with drupal’s marketing, business or some commercial stuff, people who came that day were most IT engineers or enthusiasts.Raincity Studios will try to organize a drupal camp in the end of April whick will cover varies of topics in business, marketing, tech of Drupal.

继上一次大雪中的聚会之后，上海drupal用户见面会的第二次聚会在08年3月15日，一个春光明媚的周六圆满结束。
与上次聚会相比，这次的演讲及交流更偏向技术性，有近30名IT技术相关人员及爱好者前来参加了本月的drupal用户见面会。演讲话题主要围绕着drupal的实战技术和知识展开，Raincity Studios的Ronan Berder、Xiongxiong及王浩宇工程师分别同与会者分享了他们的一些Drupal开发经验和使用技巧。

活动回顾：

如何在数分钟内建好一个简单的社交类网站
利用这两个强大的模块，两位工程师向我们展示了如何创建一个可以让用户创建／张贴地点并对其评论的简单网站。

演讲内容：Drupal Theming
表现层：PHP模板基础
Drupal 自带一个默认的theming引擎： PHPTemplate。 这个部分我们浏览了PHP模板基础，并探索了如何灵活使用这一系统。

演讲内容：超越代码
Drupal能帮你做什么
我们一睹了Drupal的强大功能，并展示了Drupal对技术人员带来的帮助，以及它是如何使团队获益的。

在每个板块的中间，我们都为参加者留有5分钟左右的休息时间。与会者们便利用这段时间喝喝饮料、吃吃小点，与同道人交流一下各自的drupal使用经验；也有将疑问留至休息时间，与我们的工程师再进行深入探讨的，讨论气氛那是相当浓厚。
这次的演讲比较偏技术层面，所以并未过多涉及Drupal在各种商业用途上的实际应用、市场方面的应用等。但是Raincity Studios将在4月底举行一次较大规模的Drupal Camp，它会是一个集drupal技术、营销、市场人员于一堂的盛会。
