Brewpal at Lucky Lab on NW Quimby (Tuesday Jan 25)
Brewpal is an informal local Drupal gathering. Meet others in the community, work on projects, chat about job opportunities. There's no formal agenda and all are welcome. Bring a jacket as often we meet in the picnic tables outside to accommodate those who bring their dogs.
This month, we'll meet at the Lucky Lab at 1945 NW Quimby St, Portland, OR 97209. Come anytime between 5pm and 8:30pm and look for a bunch of friendly nerds with laptops. (There might be multiple tables with nerds and laptops, this is Portland after all; so just ask around if you're unsure.)

No Front End meetup this month (January)
Hello, sad to announce that there will be no front-end Drupal meetup this month. I was unable to get a speaker and my wife just had a baby so I will not be able to fill in. So I am afraid I must cancel.
We will be having one next month, I am working out the details, but save the date: February 18th, the Front-End meetups will be back.

Where do you suggest we have Brewpal next week?
Criteria:
- Free, decent wifi
- Group friendly and establishment is ok with people hanging out for a long time and coming and going
- Pay at the bar (preferred)
- Central-ish Portland location
One place that fits this criteria is the Lucky Lab (NW 21st & Quimby), so we'll default there if there are no other viable suggestions.

would like to let people down load a copy of my site.
Do not have time to make a profile and plan to give the: sites, theme and module folder and the database .sql file.
i plan to have people change the database & user name and password plus change admin name/password. i noticed there is a new unique number generated in sites/files and i am sure the salt encryption number is site unique.
My question to any d8's can You think of any other single site specific numbers i need to change before i hand out copies.
Thank You!
Read moreDecember DUG: Integrating Drupal with a Distributed Architecture
Join us Wednesday December 9th for the December user group at the offices of Phase2.
Sheldon Kreger shares a recent project integrating a large Drupal 7 site with external enterprise resources. Using RabbitMQ, Node.js, and a custom Drupal module leveraging php-amqplib, Sheldon and his team successfully refactored the way Drupal shares data with other software services. This new architecture paves the path forward for building new features in a distributed environment, while data is (a)synchronized in near-real time, and in a non-blocking manner.

Hello all! As you may know, for the past several years the Portland Drupal meetup has had a main organizer from January to December, who then "passes the torch" (literally -- we have a torch). For the last year I've had the privilege and responsibility to orchestrate the presenters and logistics of planning each meetup -- no small feat, to be sure...

Drupal 8 is finally approaching the big 8.0! Let's celebrate by learning all about its new features! This meetup will be at MetalToad (522 SW 5th Ave. Ste 400). Pizza and socializing is at 6pm, talks get started at 6:30ish.
This meetup is focused on sharing all sorts of new features in D8, and I figure the best format will be Lightning Talk style! The One Slide Deck To Rule Them All is a fantastic resource for us, so let's take advantage:

Nov-Dec Front-end Drupal Meetup Canceled
I was already planning on canceling the Dec meetup for the Holidays, and now the Drupal 8 release party is on our normal day, thus we will be canceling our two remaining meet-ups for this year.
Also, starting next year we will be changing the layout of the Front End Drupal meetups to be more of a Front-End/Site Builders meetup. More on that in January, have a happy holidays.

Drupal 8 Release Party
Hey everyone!
DID YOU HEAR THE NEWS? https://www.drupal.org/node/2605142
Today the core maintainers announced that 19 November will be the official release date for Drupal 8. I obviously believe we need to have a party to celebrate. We don't have a ton of time to organize, but I can devote some Association staff resources (ok, my time) to help plan, so I figured we should start here and see what you guys want to do.

This month (October 27th), Brewpal will take place at Bunk Bar Water at 1028 SE Water Ave.
