Welcome to the Portland, Oregon Drupal Users Group. We have (at least) three official meetups every month.
Meetings take place every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6pm. This month (April 8th) the meetup will be held at the MetalToad offices at 522 SW 5th Ave Suite 400.
Brewpal takes place on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5pm at a rotating location around Portland. This month (March 24), will be in NE Portland at StormBreaker Brewing (832 N Beech St). We meet, work on our projects, and ask questions of our neighbors with no formal agenda.
No need to RSVP, the meetings are open to all.

I'll go over the what, where, how, and why of Drush Site Aliases. Then +Darren Petersen will introduce Stage File Proxy, a Drupal module that enables you to make use of external server files on your local dev, without the need to download them. Finally, we'll go back to Drush Site Aliases and I'll point out how you can configure your $aliases array to automatically use Stage File Proxy after sql-sync.

Short of buying most of my co-workers a MacBookAir, how would you approach the discrepancies between the two screen captures shown? For example, the graphics missing from MSIE8 are all SVGs.
Would you toss an alternative theme at the MSIE 8 crowd?
Would you add modernizr tests?
Or is there a better approach that hasn't occured to me?
