Hi all -
I have been working with Thompson Morrison to get some high school kids involved in DrupalCon Portland (20 are coming to the Build a Module training, and then to the Sprint!). He would love for members of the Drupal Community come out and show support for (and get involved with!) a new initiative he's working on. I can't make it because I have a board retreat, but I would be there otherwise! Here are the details for the May 18 meetup:

I'm looking for someone to design a few themes for the Baha'i Incubator distribution. Our requirements, somewhat different from most theming tasks, are listed in a google document. Basically what we're looking for is a clean, open, adaptive theme with good layout and typography and absolutely no branding or distinctive graphical elements. A glorified wireframe, if you will.Read more
I'm in the process of restarting Mathematic Arts in Portland, and want to start having conversations with the people who will help me rebuild. The company will work primarily with clients in mathematics, science and the humanities; we'll work on subjects we enjoy personally with organizations whose missions we believe in; and we'll eschew large corporations and consumer-focused brands.
The overlap of the different Portland tech communities is extensive so I thought I'd make this sad post here because I know some of you knew Igal Koshevoy. Though he was not a Drupal guy he was an extraordinary open source community builder and good work he did assuredly overlapped into our realm.
First, The sad news. This from a Stumptown Syndicate announcement:
"Sometime early Tuesday, April 9, Igal Koshevoy left us, following a long struggle with depression. He was a beloved member of our open source technology community, and will be missed." Read more of the announcement.
For my own part I'm fairly heartbroken.
We are beginning to work on a Celebration of Life for our friend and colleague, Igal Koshevoy. We welcome all who wish to participate, volunteer, and contribute to these efforts.
We have set up a website to help our community celebrate Igal's life Please share memories, photos or words of remembrance, and read what others have shared. We have also created a Facebook page, and on Twitter we request that you use the hashtag #igalko or his twitter handle @igalko.
We are beginning to gather an RSVP count to inform selection of a location and a date for a memorial. Please RSVP at Eventbrite and we will update you with event details as soon as they are confirmed. You can sign up as a volunteer when you RSVP, or by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stumptown Syndicate is accepting contributions on behalf of Friends of Igal Koshevoy, if interested please read the Contribute page.Read more

The location hunt has started! If you have any contacts that can get us a deal at a great spot please contact our venue coordinators.Read more
