The Santa Cruz Drupal User's Group is looking to connect Drupal users in and around Santa Cruz, California.
We have a budding tech community in Santa Cruz. One factor in our tech growth is the use of Drupal at several local web shops, start-ups, and organizations. Drupal use at UC Santa Cruz is also growing and it's time we all got together to share knowledge and learn from each other.
We (almost always) meet on the first Tuesday of each month, at 7pm. Meetings are free and held at NextSpace at 101 Cooper Street in downtown Santa Cruz. All are welcome. Ring the buzzer to get let into the building.
Note - If the meeting day falls on a holiday or during the winter holidays (e.g. January), then we might reschedule or cancel the meeting but there will be a discussion or event here for it.

Hi all,
It's that time again... we'll be meeting next Tuesday night from 7 to 9pm at Nextspace.
Darryl Norris has suggested some topics:
https://groups.drupal.org/node/510283
Any of those sound good? The first 2 he already has prepared so would be easy for him to give next week.
Also, I would like to go over my slides for my DrupalCon sessions if possible. I do not need to do a presentation but am looking for feedback on the slides.

Referring Some Drupal Customers
Hi Santa Cruz Group Members,
Im restructuring my business, and Im looking to refer some of my current small drupal site customers to someone else in Santa Cruz. However, I'm looking for someone that is like $75/hr or less. Any recommendations?
Thanks so much in advance,

April 2016 Santa Cruz Drupal User Group Meeting - Nextspace 7pm to 9pm (Tuesday Apr 5, 2016)
Dan Harris and Heron Heron Ordoñez of Nvidia are available to present our notes at the April 5th meeting on how we were able to achieve a complex Drupal 6 to 7 migration with roughly two minutes of website downtime. These concepts should apply to any D2D migration.
We'd be covering the migration from both a Drupal standpoint, and what was needed on the server side to achieve this near 100% automation. The Drupal 7 site architecture was built from scratch during the migration process using a script and features/custom modules. We'd also be discussing how to use multithreading with Drupal.

Our February SCDUG is this Tuesday Feb 2 at 7pm at Nextspace.
We might have some additional book review that can happen from:
https://groups.drupal.org/node/506623
The plan is to review Chapters 1 to 5 on Saturday and then Aimee's going to crank through Chapter 6 and we can review/discuss (as a group or individually) that chapter on Tuesday night.
If you won't be at the sprint Saturday, but will be there Tuesday night, let us know and we can make sure to print out a full book for you to take home to review when you have time.

Read moreLooking for Drupal scaling & memcache expertise
productOps is looking for some help on a large-scale Drupal app we're managing. We're seeing massive DB connection spikes periodically, coincident with a lot of memcache evictions and a slowdown in memcache performance, which ultimately leads to sporadic outages that require human intervention to back off connections to the Database.
If you know someone with deep experience with memcache or issues related to scaling Drupal, I'd appreciate a referral. Thanks!

VM search is on
Hi drupal peeps,
So I've been using Parallels for my Microsoft browser testing for a number of years now. It is pretty easy to set up multiple machines depending on what OS version you need to see, but using it is almost intolerably slow.
Also, they are always telling me to upgrade, even though I just did, and there's a limit to the number of "fifty-dollarses" that I want to give over to software that frustrates me.
