The Santa Cruz Drupal User's Group is looking to connect Drupal users in and around Santa Cruz, California.
We have a budding tech community in Santa Cruz. One factor in our tech growth is the use of Drupal at several local web shops, start-ups, and organizations. Drupal use at UC Santa Cruz is also growing and it's time we all got together to share knowledge and learn from each other.
We (almost always) meet on the first Tuesday of each month, at 7pm. Meetings are free and held at NextSpace at 101 Cooper Street in downtown Santa Cruz. All are welcome. Ring the buzzer to get let into the building.
Note - If the meeting day falls on a holiday or during the winter holidays (e.g. January), then we might reschedule or cancel the meeting but there will be a discussion or event here for it.

Is there any one with availability?
Last year was light and now when it rains, it is starting to flood. Not a bad place to be. That said, I might have work that comes up that I could use some additional resources. Let me know if you are interested off list if you can.
Email me @ darren {at} ocm {dot} today. I am mostly looking for some backend folks on some of these projects, but I do have a need here and there from some front end.
Thank you!

===========
In Case of Rain:
If it rains, we'll postpone the walk to March based on the blackout dates in the comments.
===========
When and Where:
Date: Saturday February 21st
Time: 1pm to whenever
Place: Wilder Ranch (ocean side)
Let's meet at the parking lot at 1pm and head out for the walk no later than 1:10. If you're late, just follow the path to the ocean (past the train tracks) and you might catch up with us. I recently took a job at a nonprofit agency in Santa Cruz, and inherited a messy, unattractive website. I'm hoping to find a local Drupal contractor who can both train me to manage the site, and also help figure out how to rearrange the pages and presentation so it makes sense. I can pay on an hourly basis. Suggestions?

Read moreDrupal Commerce - Shipping bit 'o help
Howdy All,
Hope I am just missing something basic here (how many times have we heard that?).
I'm using Drupal Commerce suite for a store I have built. Everything is super groovy, especially since I had paid attention a few months back at one of our meetings, with the exception of one thing which is causing significant headache and hassles. The shipping quotes seem to be off in many cases. FedEx is the shipper and modules of choice.

The next Santa Cruz Drupal User Group will be Tuesday Oct 7, 2014 at 7pm at Nextspace.
Julia suggested a presentation/discussion on responsive web design (RWD). The thought was that might be a collaborative effort between the themers. :)
Any other topics that we want to discuss? If there is interest, I can go over building a Drupal 8 install profile and demo the one I made (with help from Gabor Hojtsy and Aimee Degnan). Or that can wait until November.

Anybody got 1/2 -1 hour to help with some OG questions/groking? I can't seem to get the recipe right for OG Menus and using Views for OG. I am assuming that there is a lot of operator error going on, but maybe some help in pointing me in the right direction or clearing up some questions? Let me know what can be offered in return :)

Read moreSales Tax
Hey all,
I'm finishing up a site where the business is wanting to apply the sales tax based upon the shipping address, and not just the standard base CA sales tax.
I have the store setup with drupal commerce, and currently using the sales tax module.
Wondering what some people's experience might be. It looks to me as if it is a complex setup of the tax rules. Or might there be some kind of secret sauce for making this easier?
Cheers

Read moreQuestion about Views Rewrite Results
Hi Everyone,
I have a question about a Views Rewrite Results issue. I am trying to rewrite a Field Collection ID field as a link and change it to reflect the Content:Title as the link. When I output the field as a link and fill in the Link Path with;
path to view/[item_id]
the link works fine, but of course the Field Collection Item ID is what is visible not the Title. So, I hunted around and found I should use an HTML link in the Text rewrite box. In the text I set;

I am at DrupalCon Austin, and on Wednesday, I noticed a room off to the side of the hubbub with a sign out front that read "Acquia Certification". I had heard about the program and had a certain amount of trepidation about it. Being a mostly homegrown industry, it can be difficult to have a feel for how sharp your skills are in comparison to others around you.
