Looking for help understanding the best practices for keeping sites built with OpenPublish secure and up-to-date.

I have read lots of posts and listened to plenty of conversations about drush but just kept putting off checking it out for myself. If that sounds like you then visit here http://drupal.org/project/drush and here http://drupal.org/node/477684 and try it out, even if you have just one drupal site.

I'm currently in the process of developing a site that I though may be a candidate for a multisite configuration, but I'm not certain. Basically I will ultimately be creating a number of subsites based on geographic location (something in the realm of how craigslist does it). There will potentially be quite a few nodes. Since individuals will come to the site to view info specific to a location, I though for the sake of database size, it might make sense to split it up. I guise to cut to the chase, I'm wondering what the advantages are based on my critera.

Hey guys - So, keeping track of what updates are needed on a Drupal site isn't too bad, but what about if you're running 50 sites? I've looked around a few times over the last few months, but I've never found any good discussion on this topic.

I'm building out a new secure Drupal hosting service, and while I'll be able to manage this for the first few months by hand, presuming things go well, it will quickly become more work than I'd like to do, just keeping inventory of the sites, figuring which sites have security patches, etc.

I was starting to learn Openpublish 1.5 and heard that waiting for 1.6 for big changes was probably a good idea, due to the inclusion of the Distro module. So I postponed development for awhile so I could start fresh with 1.6.

Can you guys explain the upgrade process in greater detail?
