2014 DrupalCorn Camp Organizational Meeting
Before thinking of 2014, thank you to all who were involved with the 2013 DrupalCorn Camp. It was a highly successful event. Thank you to each volunteer, presenter, leader, promoter and attendee. Also, thank you to the University of Iowa for the kind hospitality, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful site for the event. The camp was fun, educational, and exceptional! All of these efforts, from each involved, are what encourage such a wonderful Drupal Community to keep connected from the Midwest and beyond.

November CIDUG Meeting 11-14-2013: How do I Feature?
In September Michael talked about the modules he created using Features that he finds useful for developing and maintaining numerous Drupal sites.
This meeting I will cover creating a feature. I will copy an existing slideshow implementation into a self-contained module made with the help of the Features module. With this feature I can deploy the functionality of this slideshow to multiple sites, and maintain it with other developers and site builders, without having to do any database merging.
Last meeting, I forgot to bring the BuildAModule.com gift certificate, so we will be giving that away at this meeting (it's in my laptop bag so I won't forget it this time).
Thursday, November 14, 7p 9p. Room 8 Curtiss Hall, Iowa State University

We will be spending time this month working on something related to Drupal. In the past a module has come out of a meeting such as this. Who knows? Bring your ideas, thoughts, questions.
We will also be giving away a BuildAModule.com gift certificate.
Please note that this meeting is a week earlier due to Halloween. Also due to conflit with holidays we are going to ease into a 2nd Thursday of the month meeting rather than a last Thursday of the month meeting.
Watch for more info and update your calendars.
Next meetings: November 14 and December 12.

Since it is getting close to DrupalCorn Camp, we don't really have a topic for this month's meeting. Instead, we will help people setup their local environment or help out with with whatever issues you may be having. If you are going to the camp, you can use this meeting to get squared away and prepare yourself to get the most out of DrupalCorn Camp.
Thursday, July 25, 7p - 9p. Room 8 Curtiss Hall, Iowa State University.
Please use the North door this time as the hallway inside is closed.
July Meeting?
Any notion of a monthly meeting this Thursday, or are we skipping July...so close to DrupalCorn?

It's easy to create content types, but is that always the best solution? Do I really have to have a table for every column of what is actually just some tabular data? Want to be able to edit that data in Drupal without putting it in a node?
Entity API gives you all the tools you need to simplify data that isn't necessarily a node. I will show how I did this for a project at Iowa State. We will also look at EntityFieldQuery as an alternative to views.

Just got back from DrupalCon 2013 in Portland. I'm exhausted but excited to start looking at Drupal 8. Let's try installing it where ever we can. If we get it up and running lets poke around under the hood and see what we can find.
