About 5s microcache for commerce platforms
Hi
We are working on a commerce site with the following caracteristics:
- We have 4 different roles (anomymous, standard, special and admins).
- We have a shopping cart block visible in all pages (except checkout). This is of course a dynamic block that varies per user, not per role.
- All users and roles can see this shopping cart block (including anonymous, as everybody can order to us).
- The content (markup) displayed in most pages vary per rol.
Symlink to my modules dump not working
Hello,
I'm running my BOA deployment on amazon's ec2 and it's been an experience. It works but i've got my eyes on it constantly to make sure it works as it should.
We've got issues with bandwidth over here in Nigeria so i prefer to have a dump of the possible modules that i may need for different projects being hosted on the Octopus instances.
My dump is stored on the ec2 default user home folder and i would like to symlink it to the sites/all/modules/"my_contribs" link/folder. I created a symlink but it didn't take. My site didn't read the modules folder. I changed the permissions to 755, chown'd it to root but still no success.

I was trying to piece together a road-map, and release date, for BOA 2.0.3 from the todo tag in the issues queue. Is it possible to share some up coming features and date for 2.0.3?
As always, I appreciate all the hard work and try and add value when I can.
Peace,
Michael Clendening
Can anyone explain Drupal S,D,P platform variations?
I've noticed there are three different platforms flavors for standard Drupal . I assume that means Production,Stage, Development. Can anyone explain the differences and how to use this kind of workflow?

Has there been any discussion related to converting the Barracuda / Octopus scripts over to a system like Chef or Puppet? After doing some research I think a Barracuda cookbook for Chef would be pretty amazing. We could take it further and have knife subcommands built that can add clients and sites.
Any thoughts on this?
Read moreGetting some performance from BOA Drupal 7 platforms
Hi everyone,
Started to enjoy BOA (2.0.1 HEAD, with already 2 live sites on it). After pretty steep learning curve, still some of performance questions remain.
There are plenty of performance oriented services installed with Barracuda, such as php-fpm, nginx, redis, memcached etc.
I am talking just about Drupal 7 platform, the one, which is included and updated with Octopus. One of the cool features - symlinked modules to all included platforms. There are more performance oriented included with D6, but in D7 just few.
Ones I am interrested most are (probably in order of importance):
BOA on a "standard" desktop environment
This may come as a odd question, but can anyone see a reason for not using BOA on a standard graphical desktop environment?
My question comes from the, maybe wrong, idea that BOA is fitted for a "bare" development and/or production environment, i.e., minimal Debian install, no window manager, "Linode" kind of machine. From what I read on the group discussions BOA tends to be somewhat rigid on the setup options. So a desktop environment, with all the multitude of installed applications and constant updates, may ruin the system.
Does anyone has any thoughts on this?
BOA Linode Install Experience
I am pleased to say I have successfully installed Barracuda and a satellite Octopus instance on my linode.
I have also managed to upgrade the two all using the scripts kindly provided by omega8cc.
During the install process I received a couple of errors but nothing show stopping.
/usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation: 371: find_mysql_client: not found
Which led me to:
http://drupal.org/node/1213050 "This is not our bug, it is MariaDB bug probably, but cosmetic only, since it doesn't break anything, AFAIK."
Trouble getting BOA at a Virtualbox
Hi,
I have some troubles getting Aegir working using BOA to install it at a virtualbox machine.
Is there some kind of stable version of the installation script, and how can I get such a version. Git is not very straight forward in that.
What I did (Friday 30th July) was get the HEAD version of barracuda and installed it at a ubuntu 10 LTS at a virtualbox machine
top of CHANGELOG.txt:
Stable Edition 1.0-boa-T-8.9
Date: in head, not yet released.
Installs Aegir HEAD 1.2.1
I disabled the DNS check (would not install otherwise)
