The Louisiana Drupal User Group held its May meetup on Thursday, May 5, at The Pastime in Baton Rouge. Regulars Brian, Eric, Hank and Jeff welcomed newcomer Wendy Overton from LSU's Continuing Education department. Wendy talked with the group about initiatives she is working on to help build local meetup groups such as ours with the support of LSU and other organizations interested in boosting Louisiana's technology culture.

We had another good turnout for our April meetup, held at Tracey's in New Orleans (home of the best roast beef po-boys in the city).

Major topics of discussion included DrupalCon, mobile site development, performance tuning and putting the wheels in motion for our group's first Drupalcamp.

April 7th at 7:00pm will be our next meetup in New Orleans at Tracy's on Magazine St. It's an informal meeting, we will be discussing DrupalCon Chicago and open discussions on Drupal 7, plus whatever Drupal questions you have. The next meetup for the Louisiana Drupal Users Group is this Thursday, March 3, 7:30 p.m. at The Pastime in downtown Baton Rouge. The group features several regular attendees with lots of Drupal experience. If you are new to Drupal, drop in and we can help get you started. If you are an experienced Drupal developer, you'll find several folks there ready to help discuss the latest tips and tricks of the trade.

Am looking to finalize location for our March 3 meetup in Baton Rouge. The Pastime seems to have served us well - but please chime in if you have a suggested alternative location you'd like to request we explore. I plan to have the location set by this coming Thursday so that we can post the information and send out a meetup email.

The second monthly meeting of the Louisiana Drupal Users Group represented a 167% increase in attendance in just one month! OK, so it was an increase from 3 to 8, but still, I'd like to see a group with a better percent increase in its first two months!

Thanks to all who attended at Cooter Brown's Tavern in New Orleans on Dec. 2 including Doug, Brian, Eric, Sabrina, Jim, Hank and Jason.

We had a brief discussion about growing the group, pursuing a Drupalcamp down the road, and then shared some general discussion about tips trends in Drupal.

We are planning the next Meetup in New Orleans Thursday, December 2nd 7pm. Now time to settle on a location.

We definitely need beer and internet access and preferably food. There is a list of WiFi restaurants in New Orleans from Urban Spoon: http://www.urbanspoon.com/New-Orleans I vote for Cooter Brown's it has all the requirements and is pretty easy to find. The Bulldog has a nice beer selection. Both Cooter Brown's and The Bulldog have confirmed that WiFi is available.

We had the (we think) first-ever Baton Rouge meetup for the Louisiana Drupal Users Group on Thursday, November 4 at The Pastime in downtown Baton Rouge. bberlin, jeffdiecks and schmook attended.

We discussed growing the group the old fashioned way, by each attempting to bring a friend to a future meetup and beginning to create some consistency and momentum behind the group. We noted that New Orleans likely missed out on a very real opportunity to host DrupalCon 2012 due to the lack of a strong local Drupal community.

Looking to get a Louisiana Drupal meetup going, even if it's only just 2 or 3 of us to start (this is how Drupal Atlanta started).

How about once a month on Thursday nights to start with. Who's in for Thursday, Nov. 4 in Baton Rouge? Once we have a couple of people interested we can choose a location.
