University Student Organizations

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.
This group should probably have more organizers. See documentation on this recommendation.

Student-run organizations at colleges and universities are now almost expected to have a website. The lack of web design and development knowhow within a particular club or organization and the transient nature of any organization's webmaster can often make it difficult for a student organization to maintain a useful website. Drupal and other content management systems can revolutionize the way campus organizations project themselves on the Internet.

Please share your experiences working with Drupal for campus organization websites (and tell your successor about this group when you graduate).

CIMBA Alumni - A Worldwide Organization

CIMBA is a university based in Asolo, Italy that grants MBA's to students from all over the world. Due to the distance between the different student groups, planning, coordinating, and building the alumni network has proved challenging. Our alumni association membership is in the thousands, however the membership groups are spread out between the multitude of social media networks out there, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and (hold your breath) Twitter.

2009-08-13 17:00 - 20:00 America/Indiana/Indianapolis
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

Finally we are off to another meetup!

Last meetup we learned how to create a basic theme in Drupal 6. This meetup we will focus on the theme layer again and learn how to customize data output to your liking.

If you want to follow along on your own machine/laptop/pc (in the lab) then be sure have access to a server (DaveB might have this setup?) where you can ftp/ssh to make changes to your theme files. If you don't have a Drupal theme you can download one from: http://drupal.org/project/Themes

Rice Class of 2009 Online Community

I recently launched the Rice University Class of 2009 Online Community as a venue at which members of my graduating class can keep in touch with each other. Specifically it aims to help those who wouldn't otherwise go out of their way to keep in touch with our class (especially with those members with whom they weren't the closest). The community is closed, but I'd be happy to answer any questions about it, especially if you're considering doing something similar. Thus far roughly 2/7 of my class are registered.

Welcome

Welcome to the group! I recently launched a new website for the Rice University Student Association (at 4 am this morning - fun) and I plan on launching a Drupal site to replace the aging website of my residential college, Jones College. The idea to create a place for Drupal campus web developers to exchange ideas popped into my head a few minutes ago - and here you are!

I'd love feedback on the SA website - especially criticisms!

J.D.
