About High Performance Drupal

What is the High Performance Drupal meetup about? The "high performance" part of the name is a catch-all to describe Drupal scalability, performance and benchmarking but we also discuss hosting, infrastructure, deployment, monitoring and highly repeatable processes. Also, this meetup has been held at coffeeshops in the past and the addition of caffeine makes our meetings feel as if they go faster and faster as the night goes on.

This is an LA Drupal meetup that focuses exclusively on advanced topics and there will not be a Users Helping Users portion to the evening.

Thank you to our sponsors!

Filter Digital Light food and refreshments will be served throughout the evening courtesy of our food, drink and venue sponsor, Filter Digital, a digital solutions agency.

Our client list spans global brands and Fortune 100 companies to startups and boutique firms. Let us help you create a digital solution that fits your needs!

Exaltation of Larks - Expert Drupal strategy, consulting, development and training Our projector for the evening is being provided by Exaltation of Larks, a Drupal strategy, consulting, development and training company with a team of Drupal experts in Los Angeles.

We like doing hard things on the web and excel at creating and maintaining exceptional Drupal sites with unexceptional budgets.

Drupal Coworking Friday at Droplabs on January 27, 2012

Start:
2012-01-27 10:00 - 18:00 America/Los_Angeles

Droplabs is happy to take part in Drupal Coworking Friday, a worldwide event spurred in part by the DrupalEasy Podcast #65 which featured Droplabs. We're in Downtown Los Angeles and are happy to host anyone in our local community or who is just passing through for some coworking on the last Friday of each month for some coworking. This event is free!

While every day is a Drupal coworking day at Droplabs, we're doing something different on Drupal Coworking Fridays and will provide light food and drinks all day. These are being hosted by Blake, Christefano and Paul, a few of the Droplabs founders.

After the day is over, a group of us will go to a nearby restaurant or pub. In the past we've had beers and a bonfire and were serenaded by Skrillex. We've also gone to a variety of other locations, including Barbara's at The Brewery (at 620 Moulton Ave., just a 5 minute walk away) and Carnitas Michoacan (on 1901 N. Broadway, just a 5 minute drive away).

About Drupal Coworking Friday:

  • Proposed date: Last Friday of each month
  • It takes place in your local city
  • Anyone can start/host one
  • Focused on Drupal Professionals (freelance, fulltime, part time, in office, home, etc.)
  • This is not a meetup, code-sprint, BoF or presentation
  • Attendees would still do their regular work/calls/etc
  • Other Drupal folks would be there to talk to, collaborate, advise (and likewise for the attendee)
  • Ideally, an entire section of the space will be dedicated for Drupal professionals

See http://groups.drupal.org/node/195983 for the Drupal Coworking Friday FAQ and the Coworking group at http://groups.drupal.org/coworking for general information about coworking.

Drupal Design Camp LA 2012 planning

Hi organizers,

Is anyone interested in a Drupal Design Camp LA conference for next year? It hasn't been officially announced or scheduled on the calendar yet, but if next year's DDCLA is anything like the one we had earlier this year it would be some time in February.

Drupal meetups or get-togethers in Ventura County in 2011?

Hi, Ventura Drupal! There's a lot of activity in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, but not much here in Ventura County. By my count there have been five events over the years but none have been in 2011. Is anyone interested in there being a 6th in either November or December?

In other group news, I moved job posts to their own Jobs page. To keep event announcements (including my own) in other groups from crowding out the announcements in this group, I've created a separate page and accompanying RSS feed for events specifically in Ventura County:

Conference Organizing Distribution (COD) code sprint on October 8 & 9, 2011 in Downtown Los Angeles #CODD7

Start:
2011-10-08 10:00 - 2011-10-09 10:00 America/Los_Angeles

Join members of the Los Angeles Drupal user group in the Drupal community's second code sprint for updating COD (Conference Organizing Distribution) to Drupal 7. This is a joint event produced by LA Drupal's Pro Drupal 7 Development book study group and Droplabs, a Drupal coworking / hackerspace in Downtown Los Angeles.

Join us in person or online!

During the code sprint, we'll be gathered in the #drupal-cod IRC channel and all are welcome to join us. The event organizers and attendees will also be checking Twitter for feedback and questions that mention @UseCOD or use the #CODD7 hashtag.

About COD, the Conference Organizing Distribution

COD is used for building conference and event websites. It's built on Drupal, the highly-regarded open-source web framework and content management system, and each component is independent of each other. This means you can disable the features you don't need, whether it's selling tickets or listing sponsors or allowing session voting.

Just like Drupal, COD is free and can be used by anyone. There is a very long list of sites that use COD, from the DrupalCon Chicago and DrupalCon London conferences to RIACon, Brisbane Innovation Camp, the Meego Conference, the Bay Area Drupal Camp, and our own Drupal Design Camp LA.

Here are just some of the great features in COD:

We're already using COD on Drupal 6 for the Drupal Design Camp LA 2011 website and we plan to use COD on Drupal 7 for Drupal Design Camp LA 2012. COD is not yet ready for this but we're not afraid of rolling up our sleeves and getting our hands dirty.

Help us improve COD and you'll also be helping numerous Drupal contrib projects, including Location, Signup and Commerce, as well as other organizations and conferences, such as DrupalCon, SCALE 10x and DrupalCamps around the world including our own Drupal Design Camp LA.

COD on Drupal 7 Battleplans

Pre-sprint discussion and planning

We've already begun discussing and planning several parts of the code sprint during the first 15 minutes of each Pro Drupal 7 Development book study group meeting. To join the conversation, click the Signup button below, post a comment below, contact any of the event organizers at the top of this page or just drop by the Pro Drupal 7 Development study group some Monday night.

The attendance of the book study group is already capped for this book group cycle but you're more than welcome to drop by, talk with us and work on your projects at Droplabs alongside other Drupaleros.
