The Vancouver Drupal Users Group (VanDUG) is the local meeting place for Greater Vancouver people interested in Drupal. We were formerly known as the Vancouver League of Drupalers, but that's a long story.
The group mostly hangs out on Slack at https://vandug.slack.com/. We also post our meetings on Meetup.com at https://www.meetup.com/Vancouver-Drupal-Users-Group. All are welcome, it's listed as a private group to keep out the griefers.
We've been holding semi-regular virtual meetings during COVID-19.

Drupal-focused Work Space Coop
While on our way to the Pacific North West Summit Ben, Steve and I had a discussion re: the possibility of creating a Drupal-focused work space coop in Vancouver. I talked to some people at the conference about it too and no one told me it was a dumb idea (or were they just polite?). So, I am interested in opening a discussion on the topic to a wider audience and see if would be something desirable and feasible.

Hosting presentation - what would be of interest?
I've been tapped by Dale to put together a presentation on hosting for a future meeting. I'm wondering what aspects of hosting people would be interested in? I'd also like to know whether you would prefer a brief discussion over a wider range of hosting related topics, or an in depth discussion on one or two particular topics?
Here are some ideas I've come up with, please don't let them limit your suggestions:

Vancouver's First Ever Alfresco Event
Hi everyone,
On November 12th from 6pm-9pm, we will be hosting Vancouver's first ever Alfresco (http://www.alfresco.com). Alfresco is an open source Enterprise Content Management system used by EA, Activision and Havard Business Publishing. The system integrates with Drupal via the CMIS interface. In fact the integration modules are already available. However unlike Drupal, it is a repository based system.

We have space in our vehicle if you need a ride. We can pick you up from the Skytrain.
Arriving in Seattle Oct. 23rd and leaving Oct. 25th.
If we get enough people, we can book a 2 bedroom suite at the Marriott near Ariane and the Affinity Bridge crew.
Or if you want quieter place, we can book a room with 2 Queen beds at the Best Western.

Drupal Camp Vancouver 2010 Planning has Started!
The call went out and today we held our first Drupal Camp Vancouver 2010 organizing meeting. Present were Chris Geoghegan, Vanessa Turke, Ryan Dempsey, Angus Pratt, Katy Laan, and myself (Dale McGladdery).
An aside, this first meeting was held in Surrey because most of the initial responders lived there. Then came a second wave of interest from the Vancouver side. Apologies to everyone who wanted to come but couldn't make it out. DCVan2010 is on the agenda at the October VanDUG meeting so everyone who wants to can get involved.
As in 2008, the planning group decided on a May camp in downtown Vancouver. The exact date will depend of venue availability. We're also going to stick with a Friday/Saturday format. We established criteria for what we want from a venue, like great WIFI and a space where people can informally socialize. The venue search is starting in earnest!
