Drupal 8 should be released later this year and it is time to start preparing. Over the years our meetup group has hosted similar events for new versions of Drupal including 5, 6, 7, and now 8. To start we'll go through the new installation process as a group, move into Drupal 8 specific changes focusing on development, and finish by learning about the new theme system Twig.

The Chicago Drupal Meet Up Group has been hosting free training events since 2006 and starting in 2013 we have been syncing these events with Global Training Days around the world. Data is a driving force these days—from election stats to web analytics to maps to infographics about everything. Data Driven Documents (D3-http://d3js.org/) is a JavaScript library that helps you bring your data to life using using HTML, SVG and CSS in modern browsers.

Chris Calip will provide an introduction to the power of D3js and highlight some of the issues using it with Drupal. Jason Bell will showcase a current Drupal project that we built using this technology.
