CiviCRM References

I am about to start work on a nonprofit site and am strongly considering using CIVICRM within that framework. I am looking to this group to see if anyone can share sites that are using it that I can look at and the pluses and minuses you have encountered. Essentially I am looking to convince this is the way to go versus using Microsoft's CRM. I would like to keep everything Druapl if possible

Using CiviCRM fields in MailChimp

I have a Drupal 7.21 / CiviCRM 4.2.2 install.
It uses CiviCRM, MailChimp and Profile2. I need to put the first name and last name from a CiviCRM contact into the MailChimp for the mailouts. What I planned on using to make the linkage is Custom Token. I didn't want to write a custom module to pull this off if Custom Token were available to do almost the same job.

Here is what I built:

<?php
if (module_exists('civicrm')) {
$user = user_load(arg(1));
civicrm_initialize(TRUE);

require_once 'api/v2/UFGroup.php';

$userID = civicrm_uf_match_id_get( $user->uid );

Synchronization of Drupal Users/Roles & CiviCRM Contacts/Groups

In CiviCRM I have following categories of individuals that is relevant to permissions they would have in the system:
- manager
- team lead
- sales
- customer

Each of these individuals are belonging to one and only one country, and each country has one and only one manager.

1: Custom ACL

  • A user logged in as a manager can create contacts of types team lead, sales and customer for the country he is responsible for.
  • A lead can create sales contacts only. And they will belong to the same country, he is operating in.
  • Sales and customers aren't allowed to create any contacts.

CiviCRM helps organizations grow and sustain strong relationships over time.

CiviCRM is a web-based, open source, Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) software geared toward meeting the needs of non-profit and other civic-sector organizations.

As a non profit committed to the public good itself, CiviCRM understands that forging and growing strong relationships with constituents is about more than collecting and tracking constituent data - it is about sustaining relationships with supporters over time.

Multiple Registration forms for a single Event

Setup:
Drupal: 7.14
CiviCRM: 4.1.5

I have created an event and a registration form for attendees. Now I need to create a second registration form for the same event for vendors. I can't do both on the same registration form as there are differences between attendee options and vendor options.

I see I can create a contribution form with a type of "Event Fee" but how will that record the person as being a vendor for this particular event?

Last Issue w/ Packaged Install Profiles that include CiviCRM?

After writing several patches to CiviCRM's install process that will be included in CiviCRM 4.3, I think we're down to just 1 issue before building a CiviCRM/Drupal site becomes much easier and bug/notice/warning free for new sites/site builders. Because the Drupal.org packaging process updates CiviCRM as the downloadable .tar.gz/.zip are built, we are able to patch CiviCRM before downloading it. Some of these patches replicate the changes the CiviCRM team makes to external, open source packages in their build process other are changes to the Drupal specific CiviCRM files.
