Drupal Association Board Elections--Ideas and Input Needed
This page should now be regarded as "historical information", now that the 2020 Election pages are at https://www.drupal.org/association/board/elections -- Rachel Lawson, Community Liaison.
This planning document produced a plan for the 2012 Drupal Association elections of at large directors that was approved by the DA board.
The Drupal Association is holding its first round of elections for board members under its new governance structure. See the the elections announcement for background and details. To invite community input on how best to run the elections, we've outlined below some possible suggestions, along with their pros and cons. Drupal is an awesome way to build a career. Many of us have been using Drupal for years and have built a career out of it. More University students need to be made aware that Drupal is hiring and Drupal is awesome. sure learning Assembly is fun.. for about 5 minutes.. but learning how to be a responsible web app that attracts tens of thousands or millions of users is just rocking awesome. The web is the future and our Universities are just now waking up to this fact.

Drupal Global Training Day is a worldwide training day designed to introduce people to the Drupal project.
The next #learndrupal Global Training Days are Friday August 21 and Saturday, August 22,!
Previous Global Training Days.
These are training courses that are designed to bring a student from no-Drupal knowledge to a place where they can choose to be a developer, themer, designer, site architect, engineer, etc.
Working with training providers from around the world, Drupal day is a single day where a student can attend a training in most major cities worldwide.

The Drupal project is growing and we need more talented people in the Drupal community. Many companies are providing training and several of those companies are listed on the training page. However, not all trainings are listed and it can still be difficult for people to find relevant training.

6) Make Drupal.org awesome for site builders - module reviews, docs, etc.
Site builders are not developers -- they are architects and masterminds behind Drupal-based websites. This group of individuals wants to find the best or newest modules and themes fast. They also want access to great documentation with easy to understand instructions for the tasks they need to do. And they want to get quick and reliable answers to their support questions.

This is a continuation of a page on http://association.drupal.org
2011 was a big year for the Drupal Association. In our first year of staffed operations the Drupal Association was effective in a number of initiatives but didn't meet our expectations in others. It was a year of growth for us, as we learned how to navigate within and support the community and to be an organization that is truly reflective of the community we support. Now with a year of learning experience behind us and a new governance structure we're looking forward to 2012. Our planning process started with the community and now we're returning to the community to define our plan for 2012.

As you may have heard, the Drupal Association has decided, under the flag of increased efficiencies, to completely shift the organizational structure of the Drupal Association. These changes include disbanding the DA's General Assembly, moving all operations from the original organization (VZW - a Belgian nonprofit) to the 501(c)3 that VZW setup to help finance DrupalCons (DrupalCon, Inc or DCI), appointing a new board, etc.
