Drupal Fit talks at Los Angeles Drupal Meetup
Hi all--
Christefano made a request to have these slides posted here to the group. They are my side of a two part Drupal Fit presentation from Erin Clerico and myself at the Los Angeles Drupal meetup. I have 2 atricles that inspired me and then some slides showing metrics from my use of the Jawbone Up. Overall they are a snapshot of what we discussed and may not have as much weight as the presentation itself.

I am thinking of arriving a few days early and spending some time shredding the trails. Mt. Hood has an amazing freeride park and bike and gear rental are available on site.
If you've never tried downhill but are comfortable on a XC MTB, this is one of the best places to try it as it's not as gnarly as trails in CO and UT. It's very fast and has a few skill sections but nothing outrageous. I am an advanced rider and would be willing to coach you down the mountain in one piece.
Here's the info on the bike park.

Hey Drupal Fitness Geeks! We have a discussion going on at GDO/Florida about hiking Mt Hood Before Drupalcon PDX. Here's the details! Share your thoughts and spread the word! :)
Whats this about?
We are organizing a group of people who will arrive in Portland early to go hike Mt Hood.
The Plan
- Arrival: I (and others) will arrive in Portland on Thurs May 16th
- Accomodations: TBD. But most likely this cabin or similar.
- Day Activities: Heavy duty hiking
- Night Activities: Beer, steak, and Drupal
- Costs: If we fit four people into the previously mentioned cabin, the rental costs will be ~$150 per person for the entire 3 nights. Plus we will need food, drink, incidentals, etc. Budget around $300 or so.
- Departure: We depart for Portland proper Sunday morning.
- Who can come: More the merrier. We can always rent more cabins. We can arrange rides from the airport together etc.
What you need to do
Post below to show interest. Tell us the following:
- When are you going to arrive?
- Do you want to stay in a cabin with someone?
- What is your favorite beer? Yes, you will be judged :)
- Also, help us spread the word! Tweet, email this link to all your Drupal-buddies (drupaddies?)!
Hiking Trails
This is all subject to change, but my plan is to hike mostly day-trails. 10 miles and less.To get a good idea of cool trails, check out http://alltrails.com/search?q=mount+hood%2C+or

Rock 'n' Roll Portland Half Marathon
Sunday the 19th of May - the day before DrupalCon Portland - is Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series visiting Portland.
Anyone up for a half marathon in the streets of Portland before a week of sessions, coding and party?
I will be my first half marathon, but it's my expectation that finish it in 2 hours or less.

Christefano has asked me to post here, about a blog post I wrote How to Avoid the Drupal Flu.
Essentially, it's no surprise that so many people get ill after a big conference like Drupalcon, but there are easy ways we can prevent it. My blog post discusses this in more detail, but for quick viewing here are the key points to help you stay Drupal Fit:

Charity Soccer Event
Hi All,
I was at a Drupal User Group meeting a few months ago and there was a presentation about Drupal Fit.......it was FANTASTIC! During the presentation, the presenter mentioned that there were organized soccer games. Does anyone know anything about that or can someone connect me to the organizer? Thanks!
Diane

Not a runner? There's still more to do for exercise or fun near DrupalCon. Just a few blocks from the Convention Center, where Trinity hits Lady Bird Lake, businesses in the Waller Creek Boathouse rent rowing sculls, kayaks, bicycles, stand-up paddleboards, and more. Get out on the lake or ride the hike-and-bike trails around it:

You can even rent kayaks in the evening to go out and watch the bats emerge from the Congress Avenue Bridge at sunset.
Other places to rent watercraft are the Texas Rowing Center:
