Sorry for the delay, but between DrupalCon, the 'nerd ick' cold/flu that's been passing around the office, and of course the snow (it's falling again right now), things have been a mite hectic.
We need to pick a date/location for a first NH meetup... suggestions welcomed.
Ben has kindly offered the conference room at Commonplaces, which will hold about 15-20 people, and has a projector. It's in Hampstead, conveniently located 15 minutes off I93 exit 3. Other offers will be considered, either for a first meeting, or future meetings, so speak up!
Date/Time:
To be determined. Late April is my preference right now, on a weekday night, say 7:00/30pm to 9pm What's your preferences? Day of Week?
Topics:
1) Lightning talks are good for getting everyone involved... pick anything and talk for 5 minutes on it.
Interesting module you use, book you read, code you wrote, design you made, etc...
Pro: lots of people involvement - fresh idea sharing
Con: Shy people, Different levels of skills/interest, size of group (too big or too small)
2) Speaker/Presentation - devote a half hour/45 minutes to a speaker/presentation on a topic of general interest.
3) A meld of the two, allowing folks to lightning speak for 5 minutes, after having a presentation first.
I'll vote for #3 first, and then we can see what participants find most useful.
I've got an idea for the first presentation, which I've bounced off a few people and everyone so far liked:
I call it: "Web 2.0, Code 0" or How to Build a Web 2.0 site in Drupal without ever touching PHP at all
I have to work on this (it's only an cool idea so far, not a fleshed out presentation yet), but I think it's good because it spans the range of users out there: newbies, designers without coding skills, and Drupal professionals.
It'll focus on how to combine existing modules (some old, some new), not requiring php knowledge, and ending up with a site that endusers will clearly label as "Web 2.0" ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=NLlGopyXT_g )
See http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a7/Web_2.0_Map.svg
for a great map of what Web 2.0 is about...

Location sounds good to me.
Time sounds good. Please not Tuesday, I'll be at the Taproom. Prefer not a Wednesday (game with the family night) or Friday (Pizza night).
I like the web 2.0 topic idea. I'd also like to see stuff like:

Updating sites is a huge topic... and we can all certainly share methods we use.
As for scripts:

Hey did you guys ended up having this or not? Any more coming up? I just joined. I think I met some of you in Boston.

Cool, hope it's going to happen sometime this summer :) I enjoyed Drupalcon so much that I think I need regular drupal buddies meetups.
haven't forgotten, just been busy...
Between work and personal life, I've been swamped. I need to look at June's calendar, pick a date, and make it happen. The presentation I want to give is still brewing in my mind, with lots of new bits appearing in the 'new modules' list almost every week.
newbie... interested in the next NH Meetup
anyone make any headway on the next NH meet up very interested in getting involved in the NH drupal community.

Hi All!
I'm just providing some additional feedback - that YES I'm interested in attending a NH meet up as well!

Okay, it's been over a year since we said we'd do this... We're picking a date and having a meeting. What days are best for people?
Looking to get involved as well
Lucidus (www.lucidus.net) is a 10 person Drupal focused firm in Keene, NH. Two of us just camp back from DC and are psyched to help build the NH Drupal Community. We pulled together an overview of the conference for our staff, we'd be happy to share that if it would be of interest?
I met some folks from the Concord Monitor in DC, they seemed like they may be open to hosting as well. I will follow up with them.
Anytime 6 or 7PM M-Thurs is good with me...
How about April 1? (no joke)
Great!
I'm new to Drupal and have been wishing this group would reactivate. A DC debrief from the Lucidis folks would be awesome.
If the Keene and Concord folks want to meet in the middle, I'm sure we could find a venue in my town, Wilton. ;-) But I'll travel to wherever is best for the majority. Concord's no problem. As far as schedule, the First and Third Wednesdays of each month is taken (so I'd have to pass on April Fools day), anything else can be moved.
I've built a couple sites now, including one for my town Planning Board: http://pb.wiltonnh.org
Yes.. Yes... Yes..
We are also a small Drupal Firm (it's my brother and I, plus a few other hard coders).. We are located in Windham NH. We are doing a lot of work with the Hudson School District, and working towards getting the town of Hudson to scrap their current offering for a Drupal replacement. We've build a few modules we use internally, and have over a dozen Drupal based sites. So I would personally really like to meet up with JEHF (I think we could have a lot in common).
For the past two years we've been working in isolation - simply because we never bothered to look into the groups. What a regret. In the past month I met with the Boston Team - WORTH THE TRIP - but would definitely prefer to attend regular meetings a bit closer to home. If we can meet once a month it would probably be beneficial to us all.
With regards to the Date, JEHF already mentioned that his first Wednesday is a conflict. Maybe we can go with March 31? In Concord...
Count me in!!

Local government overlap?
I'd love to talk with you about your project, Scott.
If the NH group didn't mind spreading the love, a cross post of the Event to the Local government group might draw a few folks.
...Just a suggestion to whomever creates the Event announcement once it gets finalized.

Do we think we can pull off monthly?
It seems like it might be a bit much a bit fast, but if so, why don't we think about kicking things off on the second Wednesday when Jehf can make it?
So I guess this is a nomination for April 8?

Wednesday's are not good for
Wednesday's are not good for us. I know (smile) this isn't all about us, but they are an impossibility for us... If the majority choose Wednesday, we understand, but wouldn't be able to attend.
Wednesdays also bad for me
I know I only mentioned my conflicts on first and third Wednesdays, but I was only thinking about this month. Second Wednesdays will become impossible for me, too, starting next month 4/7. ...So basically I'm in the same boat as Scott with most Wednesdays being a no-go.

Nomination for First Monday?
How's April 6th?
Just talked to the folks at the Concord Monitor, they seem open to hosting. room, wireless, projector.
If we can settle on a date, I'll start a new thread so this gets a bit more visibility.
I'll second that

Mondays in general are good.

Monday April 13th is a much better date for our potential hosts in Concord. Looking at a 6pm event.
How does that look for the folks here?

Hi people ...
Looks like we have a date for Monday April 13th @ 6 pm here at the Monitor!
We will have a few from our newspaper group that will be able to attend with a mixture of experience. Not really sure what to expect or plan for from this meeting since this is the first of it's kind for me, but am looking forward to it:)
Cheers ~Margo
-- First Meeting -> Ah Meeting --
I speak only for myself, but I'm hoping this first meeting might be more on the lines of an introduction to each other, perhaps a broad sharing of current Drupal Projects and Skills. With a goal of the meeting being the development of an agenda for our next meeting...
We might find, after introductions, that many of us might have common projects - so our next meeting might focus on sharing approaches to a particular problem -> solution.
Perhaps in our crowd we have a group or individual who would benefit from a review of 'How to do XXXX' - or even all of us might like to review a module configuration, use, deployment...
Or... we can just chat...
that's my 2 cents..
Along the lines of what
Along the lines of what Scott said, I tend to think the best approach for the first meeting would be introductions... Who we are, why we're interested/involved in Drupal, maybe share what we're currently working on, etc. That way we can establish what the skill level is of the group as a whole, and then in subsequent meetings can proceed from there.
That said, who wants to go create the official event announcement? :)
Margogogo - does the Monitor
Margogogo - does the Monitor have wireless access in that room?
I'd love to be able to virtually come, and if someone had a laptop with a cam... ;)
New Thread!
Hi all... Raining here in Florida :-( but it gave me time to start a new thread for this event
