December Keene Meetup

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Based on the last meeting I believe we were looking at December 13th as our next meeting date in Keene at 6pm. If that still sounds alright, I can create an official event or start another Doodle if desired. I may not be able to make that date now (will try), but I think most others could. Same location, 6pm. The 20th could serve as a backup, but I believe that was interfering with another Drupal-meetup.

We also talked about the topic being Drupal Support Resources (IRC, forums, community, etc.). We can all share the best resources we've found to help us out in a bind.

The format, unless someone objects:

  • Meet once per month with the possibility of alternating Mondays (6pm) and Thursdays (7pm). Specific dates will be determined at the preceding meet up for now.
  • Meet for 1.5 hours (roughly)
  • Meet at 39 Central Sq., #306 unless resources or space run out
  • Start with introductions, possible presentations (2 or 3), Q&A, and open discussions

I recall talking about the possibility of a discussion surrounding resources like IRC, forums and such.

Wasn't Drush also on our list to discuss?
I think Neil and Chris were interested in possibly sharing their experiences on Drush.

yep...

That's what I recall as well. I think we were going to do an "everyone shares" kind of thing for how they get help for Drupal. Perhaps five minutes each to show best practices or how stuff works. Needs to be soup to nuts kind of thing in terms of how to install an IRC client and then use #drupal, etc.

Happy to share how we use drush or let Chris do it.

I'll be there

Would love to hear more about Drush, I'll try to get it installed before the meeting.

You can find some great resources re: drush here: http://drush.ws/resources

Looking forward to the meeting

Any chance Drush could be saved for the January meeting? I can't attend a Monday meeting and would love to learn more about drush.

Assuming we're going back and forth between Mondays and Thursdays, I won't be there in January to deliver (or help deliver) the drush preso.

so either...

so either I could do Drush in January (or someone else), or we do Drush this time and record it as a screencast while we do it. then we can do "questions about drush" in January, after people have had a chance to play / review / watch the screencast??

Let's do it tonight (in the

Let's do it tonight (in the absence of other topics) and do a screencast recording. There's a pretty good preso found here: http://www.slideshare.net/buk0wsk1/drush-more-beer-less-effort

My suggestion is to do a run through of that with demonstration along the way...record the whole thing as a screencast and offer it to the group. Folks can try it this month and come back with questions next(?).

Alternative idea would be to do a discussion on deployment options / thoughts using git, capistrano, etc. I'm definitely not an expert on capistrano but could do a good overview of how we're using git for version management of a single configuration applied to multiple sites.

One other note - I have a projector for tonight...

great!

Thanks, Neil!

I was just coming on to say the same thing (that in absence of other suggestions we should move forward with drush, record it, and then we can re-visit next time if we need to).

Please bring your projector, too - I think it will be helpful for demos. I can pop my head in where needed with Drush, so just let me how can I be of assistance to you.

if not drush, then...

If we are not going to do drush, then we might want something else to take its place? Are there any suggestions? I would be happy to present something, depending on what it is. I'm also happy to present the IRC portion of getting help.

Drupal camp

It would be great if you could mention (and attend) DrupalCamp Western Massachusetts scheduled for January 2011.

Good meeting last night

Good meetup last night.
Thanks lucidus_neil and cwells for the demo of Drush.
Also thanks for the demo of IRC options and explanation of how to find help there.
I plan to hang out in the #drupal-nh channel and earn some Karma ;-)

As for our next meeting, how about Jan. 20 7PM? I'd love to see "Drush: Part Deux"

Does anyone object to Jan 20

chrisfromredfin's picture

Does anyone object to Jan 20 7pm? I have submitted a session proposal for DrupalCamp Western MA (Jan 22) on Drush, so I could dry-run it on the 20th with y'all first. Would be good... and then take it to the next level (like, writing drush commands, drush aliases, etc).

The 20th should work for me,

The 20th should work for me, not sure if I'll be able to attend the Drupal Camp in W. MA

Tomorrow, Jan 20

chrisfromredfin's picture

Just wanted to make it official; we'll be meeting in the Redfin office tomorrow evening at 7pm. I will do a bit of a hands-on / how-to with Drush, and maybe introduce drush make if I can help it so we can get people started. Bring your laptops and you can follow along getting drush installed and getting it working.

I will focus on Linux, and I know Patrick will be able to help with Mac. Windows might be a bit of an experiment, but no problem in trying to get it installed, either... we'll figure it out... eventually. :)

Hope to see you all there!
