The toolbar for the wysiwyg editor has disappeared and I have no clue why, or how to bring it back.
This first happened with TinyMCE, and I thought it was an issue with that module, so I removed it and opted to install CKEditor. Everything was fine until I undated my theme (a very minor update at that). Then the same thing occurred. I have made sure that i have the right permissions set and everything. I'm using Drupal 6.19 and CKEditor 6.x-1.2. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm pretty new to drupal, so this has been a frustrating experience. I apologize before hand if for some reason I'm not following proper posting etiquette.

What kind of "disappears"?

What debugging have you tried thus far?

  • When you go to the WYSIWYG API configuration screen, does all appear normal? Did you change the default editor for the input format you're using? Did you disable rich text editing in your account preferences?
  • Is Javascript active? Are the paths to the Javascript library files set properly? Are the script files loading? When you check your Javascript console, are there any error messages?
  • Have you looked through the WYSIWYG API issue queue? The module may require an update to support the latest and greatest version of your editor. For example, TinyMCE 3.3.9.2 requires the latest WYSIWYG API 6.x-2.x dev version; it will not work with 2.1
  • I've had at least one client accidentally block the display of the editor with a stray mouseclick in ad-blocking software.

Thanks for your reply.

I enabled Javascript and set the permissions to the folder in sites/default/files to 777 and that seemed to resolve it.
