Jen Lampton's talk; thoughts on editor-related features

At SandCamp 2012, I attended Jen Lampton's excellent talk on WYSIWYG editors for Drupal. She's clearly looked at this topic deeply over several years and Drupal versions, and has considerable and valuable experience configuring, deploying and supporting WYSIWYG and related features like image handling.

After digesting the session I realized there were a few additional WYSIWYG features about which I'd like to hear Jen's thoughts.

WYSIWYG + TinyMCE - Any tutorial you wish!

I'd like to start writing TinyMCE tutorials on TinymceSupport.com for developers and newbies. I'm not sure what topics to cover, though.

What tutorials would you like to see?

  • What stumbling blocks have you seen people face when starting out with TinyMCE itself or WYSIWYG + TinyMCE?
  • What platforms would you like TinyMCE to be tested on, and perhaps compared to against other editors?
  • What kind of performance tests would you like to see?

Toolbar disappears

The toolbar for the wysiwyg editor has disappeared and I have no clue why, or how to bring it back.
This first happened with TinyMCE, and I thought it was an issue with that module, so I removed it and opted to install CKEditor. Everything was fine until I undated my theme (a very minor update at that). Then the same thing occurred. I have made sure that i have the right permissions set and everything. I'm using Drupal 6.19 and CKEditor 6.x-1.2. Does anyone have any ideas?

Linking to an anchor using TinyMCE

The issue is inserting a link to an anchor that is located on the same page which of course allows the viewer to skip to another place on the page easily.

Wordpress-like TinyMCE configuration

Is there any way I can make TinyMCE behave the same way it does in Wordpress (same buttons, same order, same "advanced" toolbar)?
If there is any, has anyone managed to accomplish that?

TinyMCE på svenska?

Jag har problem att få TinyMCE på svenska. Jag installerade TinyMCE enligt anvisningen i mappen "sites/all/libraries/tinymce". Jag får dock inte editorn att läsa filen "sv.xml". Jag använder "tinymce_3_3_3_dev" versionen, då jag någonstans läste att det krävdes dev-versionen.
Hur bör jag göra?

Tack / Tomas

How to add CSS in TinyMCE editor window for plugin

Hi all,

I've created a plugin for TinyMCE under Wysiwyg. Currently I'm adding my custom CSS in mymodule_init() and that works fine for displaying the node, but the CSS doesn't make its way into the editor textarea. If I manually specify the file under the Wysiwyg options (Define CSS) then it works great, but that's not very nice. I imagine there's a simple way of adding my CSS file to the editor when my plugin's enabled?

Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

TinyMCE, IMCE, Inline images. Best practices?

I've been trying to come up with a suitable solution for inline images for a while now without a ton of success. I'm sure you have had a client who wants to be able to insert images inside the main area of their text. Generally, I try to steer clients in the direction of using CCK fields for content images, but given the fixed nature of this approach, it doesn't work well for longish' tutorials with screen shots. Writers that use Drupal will often times want to use wysiwyg to get their uploaded images into the content above or near the focus of the topic.

TinyMCE internal links

Hello

I have a site with the wysiwyg module, tinyMCE, IMCE and IMCE wysiwyg API bridge. Everything works fine for images. But I had a question about internal links. When adding a link, is there a way to display all internal pages to the content editor? That way he could choose the page to link to, instead of looking up the link by browsing to that page, copy the link and paste it.
Any solutions for this problem?

Thanks
