Primary Topic/Presentation
We currently don't have anything set for the primary discussion topic, so we will either take suggestions here of things everyone would like to discuss, or can simply have a good free-form discussion during the evening, and tackle topics and issues as they arise. But if someone has a topic that you'd like to present, post it here, and we can make it happen!
If you have any specific questions for the group, feel free to post them in reply to this thread, that way anyone with experience with the topic can have a little prep time to evaluate potential solutions.
Please make sure to use the "Sign Up" button for this event so that we may continue to know how many users will be in attendance. This is really important as the group grows so we know when we will have to look for a bigger location to hold us all!!

After each meetup, we depart from the "structured" environment, and continue our discussions over beers and/or food at Pochito's Mexican Restaurant, Murphy's Tap Room, or possibly the Strange Brew. We look forward to seeing you all there!!

best practices for building production site
I know some of this has been talked about here and there. But I would find it particularly helpful to discuss/debate some general best practices for building a production site.
As a relative Noob I suspect now that my own workflow is woefully klunky and worse, not very secure. So hear ing what and how others are managing sites development would be helpful.

I think both Kevin & Roger have good topics too, As Kevin stated building a community site would be great my next 2 projects will be community sites. Another suggestion would be the most important modules every site needs I think this has been discussed but maybe creating a list would be good.

+1 on dev/deploy best practices and community sites. I've been playing with Acquia's Drupal Commons distribution lately and can talk about that, and how I'm hoping to use it.

Okay,
For Kevin (who was out for weather last meetup) I think the community site topic will be good. I think that can kind of be a free form discussion (including Jehf, and discussion Drupal Commons). IMHO, the community website discussion is very dependent on exactly WHAT you/we need/want to build. So that should be a good point where everyone can contribute their ideas as there really is 10001 ways to implement a site with that type of criteria.
RE: dev/staging/deployment best practices, now that IS a touchy subject, and I've just recently (yesterday) "perfected" my own approach when launching the Development Geeks website.
For that portion, I can setup a local environment of a test site, and something on my live server in order to demonstrate.
However, this is another touchy subject (as we did hit on it a bit last meetup) and there are hundreds of options here. My approach is Drush/Version Control (git) heavy, but could potentially serve as either a good jumping off point, demonstration of one of the many ways to implement, or simply serve as a way to confuse the hell out of everyone... ;)
I think we can go with these topics primarily, and kind of go as we did last month with a fairly open structure, and just go with the flow!

Group meetings
Hello All,
I just discovered this group and will unfortunately not be able to attend this gathering, but will in the future. Just some food for thought:
Most of what I have seen here appears oriented to the person who designs, implements and manages Drupal sites professionally.
As the admin person for our site (www.arvigotherapy.com implemented with Drupal and online since August 2010) I am the primary person responsible for day to day management and evolution of the site.
With a software industry background a technial writer but not as a coder/developer, I have a solid conceptual understanding of software and the internet, but having been out of the industry the last 10 years and new to Drupal vocabulary, I will be looking for tips, insights, and the like for best practices of daily management and site evolution from a features/functionality perspective.
Hope to meet with you all the next time.
