Everything was working and has been for some time then wham major problem.
The site welcome page calijournal.info looks the same but clicking on any menu item ends up with the same display which is a list of the articles off the front page.
Using phpmyadmin I have emptied every cache table with no change.
The problem is that I am not sure what terms to search on so have not been able to find out if this is a known prob. I am not even sure that it is an op problem, could be drupal
Configuration Drupal 6.20, openpublish 2.3, Superfish menus ( to replace openpublish), i18n, various other modules.
I am not aware of having changed anything just before it stopped working. The only thing that I can say is that I backed up the database and copied the directory using FTP to my home systems to act as backup. I also ran cron
Drupal update module is switched off because of constraints on the server which prevent it working correctly
url_alias is switched on

Altered contexts?
Not only the menu links my friend, but also clicking on any article URL shows the list of articles on the frontpage. This suggests (at least to me) that something has been changed (or messed up) in the core setup of the OP.
Do you remember doing anything in particular with contexts, or any .php files? I suppose its not cache related issue at al.

I found the problem. It came about due to my over enthusiasm for the using context tools. I must have set the the openpublish_listing_page to always active. Removing the tick solved the problem.
As usual something small causes big problems - now I can get down to doing what I really want to do!
