Welcome to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Drupal Group -- the place to get involved with the Twin Cities Drupal community whether you're new, a core contributor to the Drupal project or somewhere in between. Register for the group to get posting privileges and to be notified of what's going on.
Looking to connect with other local friendly Drupal people? Check out the Events tab for a rundown of our regular meetups and other upcoming Drupal-related events.
You can also join your Drupal peers and mentors in a couple of places:
- Slack tends to be more active these days. Join https://tcdrupal.slack.com. If you need an invite go here to get an automatic invite to the Slack team
- IRC -- #drupal-twin-cities on irc.freenode.net -- to ask questions, propose ideas, socialize. Check out Drupal.org for more info about IRC and Drupal including how to create a new account and connect. Or come to the next local meetup and someone will help you get started.
Interested in Node.js?
I've just completed a three part tutorial blog series on building a custom Node.js powered real-time chat module for Drupal 7.
If you're curious about Node.js, building a chat system is a good way to get your feet wet.
Part 1 - Writing the basic Drupal integration code.
Part 2 - Creating the Node.js server, and connecting to it from the client side.
Linking Commerce Products to Drupal 7 Top Menus
Hi All,
I'm very new to Drupal 7 and Commerce, and am wondering how I link my products (admin/commerce/products/add/product) to my top menus (admin/structure/menu/manage/menu-top-categories)? I can't find where the list of my paths are.
One product, e.g., has the auto alias: content/vegetarian-shoes-herbert and I want to link it to the top menu: catalog/mens-shoes/oxfords.
Thanks for your help!
Jon

Starting February 22, 2012, we will hold our monthly TCDrupal Commerce & Ubercart meetings just before the TCDrupal User Group meetings. A lot of us attend both meetings and some come from a distance - so we are doing this to make best use of our travel time and expenses!
February Agenda:
We will load a music/audio file and snippet - keep the full file private until paid for and the snippet or teaser public
Review of last month - we pounded into our heads the process for creating products:
1) set up product type
2) create products

Should be very good for Drupal people who are OWS supporters
I encourage all Occupy-Wall-Street supporters to register on my OWS writers' / leaders' site at http://ows.nottoolate.info . AND ask via email link to be an Editor. With your knowledge of Drupal you could (and would likely) more fully use all the tools I offer Editors and be a role model for the other Editors who are not Drupal-savvy, but could do stuff after seeing others do it.

I can drink and ask questions at the same time. Looks like that is the route I will have to take.
Would like to barter: my JavaScript programming for Drupal "audit"
I have a Drupal 6 site which is very important to me. It is a national site for Occupy Wall Street and I must make sure it always runs well. It is http://ows.nottoolate.info . I am willing to enter into a barter arrangement of time-for-time with some more experienced Drupal person (admin-level) to make sure all is well.

In the first four years of The Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge, volunteers have freely given about two million dollars worth of professional web development services to 66 nonprofit organizations – including 10 nonprofits at last summer’s first-ever Overnight Website Challenge in Chicago. While The Nerdery considers this a good start, we will rally our staff and community to deliver nerdy deeds done dirt-cheap for as long as there are good nonprofits with not-so-good websites.

Could you use an apprentice/intern?
HERE'S THE DEAL:
I have a broad background in technology (from mainframe programming to testing to desktop support). I am A+, Network+, and Project+ certified, but software is more of an interest and more up-my-alley than hardware and networking.
I have exposure to web development (e.g. completed a "Web Technology Essentials" 1 year certificate program at the University of WA; have taken courses in C#, .net, and SQL queries & programming), and have spent some time in CMSs (e.g. WordPress, Drupal, SharePoint).

It looks like various Drupal usergroups are starting something called "Coworking Fridays" where, as you may have guessed, Drupallers get together and work on Drupal stuff.
As a remote worker, this sounds really appealing to me. Anyone else interested in attending or organizing these?
