Non-absolute URLs do not redirect to proper destination

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

The user URL on http://groups.drupal.org/user/22517 is not redirecting to www.neusolutions.com as it appears to do. My own personal account page URL, found on http://groups.drupal.org/user/4009 does. Therefore I suspect that all non-absolute user profile URLs are redirecting to a place within the $base_path of groups.drupal.org and causing a 404.

I think this is a "bug" in profile module core. I've see this on several sites.

it's basically "garbage in garbage out" and people should know to enter the full http:// if they want it to work.
