Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I say nay, but not because of

I say nay, but not because of the associated project status:

  1. It doesn't have a group description
  2. Assuming it is about fundraising for non profits we already have groups that would duplicate

If they do build a solid discussion around the topic of the springboard platform then it makes sense to me for them to have their own group.

Nay to allowing new groups for each sandbox project

Can you imagine just how much effort, maintenance, and volume would be generated by allowing a new group application for each and every hair-brained sandbox that comes along? I mean, sure, it sounds cool now, but having the free-tagging system floodded by thousands of tags that only make sense to a throw-away codebase, g.d.o calendar permeated by event nodes where two devs are getting together to talk about their latest commits, and so on?
