I am starting a new services-driven site and would like to know the opinion of the group if the project is worth starting using Drupal 7 instead of 6?
The application is heavy on services so it will be like having Drupal as a backend only to store data and serve them in XMLs.
Any successful implementations or stories is appreciated.
Thanks.

it depends on if you feel the new features of D7 are more interesting for your application or not, or to your clients.
D6 and D7 can both do what you want; serving xml is no problem
an upgrade to D7 from D6 later on can be painful if you implement D6 right now and want to change your mind later on.
On the other hand, not all resources in D7 are (not yet fully) provided that are available in D6, examples are menu and views.
Custom resources can be defined in both D6 and D7, making a lot of things possible for you.
session authentication is easier in D7, so this might be an advantage to you.
personally, I'd go for D7 if your clients' wishes allow it (are all modules that you need available?)
cheers
