There's an event happening in the main cafe of the Notman House that night, but we've been offered the annex or a smaller conference room (as long as our numbers don't exceed 10). If this falls through, we can always host the event at Evolving Web or any other shop thats offering its space for two hours.
so i've just spoken with evan duffy of acquia's marketing department. she said that angie is definitely interested in speaking, and asked what else we were looking for in terms of keynote speakers and sponsorships. i basically asked who was available and she said she'd get back to me in a week or two. as for sponsorship, i said that we'd have to get back to them after we had confirmed a venue, but covering travel & accommodations for anyone who came to speak would be greatly appreciated. in terms of keynote subjects, i said that if possible we'd like to ask angie to talk about the drupal community and how to contribute and participate in it, and that we'd also like someone else to cover usability/design.
further bulletins as events warrant, and all that.
Just arrived (came back) in Montreal about 3 weeks ago (from a long 6 years stay in Japan) and would like to get involved in the community here in Montreal.
I've been around a few open source conferences in Japan promoting Drupal and would be happy to share my - somewhat limited - experience.
Not sure what I could contribute for DrupalCamp, but would be more than happy to help in some way.
You're also welcome to join us at organizational meetings if you want to make a steady commitment to organizing the conference--this will mean (at the very least) regular attendance at organizational meetings and taking on a number of tasks as we get closer to the conference date.
But in case I am late, here are some news about the venue for the Drupal Camp Montréal 2011.
Although UQAM did have a lot of interest in organizing this year DrupalCamp, there is a date conflict. Both week ends were already booked. Actually, both Friday—Saturday end of weeks were already booked. They offered to do it September 30 — October 1st, but I had to decline since webchick would not be able to come.
However, we may ask them if they are still interested in organizing the Camp for 2012.
i talked with evan duffy of aquia again yesterday, they still haven't confirmed that angie will be available but they said it will probably work and they'll try to let us know for sure this week. hopefully we can fix a date tomorrow to help them with that.
We are working (hard) on getting our DrupalCamp NH setup, and have one of our meetups tonight to further discuss planning/dates/venue, etc. It will be a 1 day camp, and are targeting getting 200-300 to attend.
We are currently looking at September/October for a date, but as many of us always make the Montreal camps, we want to make sure it does not conflict, so please update us as soon as you guys have made a date solid.
We are currently looking at the following dates (depending on venue availability)
September 10th
September 17th
October 1st
So let's make sure to work together so that we don't conflict!!!
Thanks for posting the latest info on dates. This does heavily influence our decision on dates for the DrupalCamp NH 2011 camp.
As we are hoping to have many in attendance from the Boston/New Hampshire area again in Montreal, we wanted to make sure the dates A.) Didn't conflict completely, and B.) that they were at least a couple weeks apart to hopefully make it more likely we can get some of you guys down for our event as well!
We are situating on venue now, and leaning towards October 1st as our camp date. We've scratched pretty much all of September now with your camp dates, Labor day, and other NH dates that make September hard, plus the fact if we pushed it earlier, we'd be too close on the heels of DrupalCon London, and the DrupalFlu. :)
See you all in September!! (And hopefully October!!)
If no date has already been proposed, I suggest July 6th at 6 PM. Koumbit can host if no-one has other suggestions (we're at bureau #308, 6833 avenue de l'Épée, by metro Acadie).
In other news, Angie Byron has confirmed! She'll give a talk on participation and getting started in the Drupal community which she's used for a few other camps.
Has someone already contacted Gábor or other potential speakers? Personally, I'd still like to ask Jen Simmons to talk about design and usability (she did the default D7 theme, and lives in Chicago) but either would be great, of course. Shall I contact them both to ask if they're available?

Exciting news about Angie! Thanks for setting that up. You can probably create an event for this meeting, since it will be easier to find and comment on that thread. I'm all for contacting Gabor and Jen Simmons - it'd be good to confirm a second speaker soon.

<= 10 seems about right
The annex or conference room sound about right to me.

Books, DVDs
As for sponshorships we need fresh Drupal 7 books, DVDs and maybe a First Prize visit to Acquia! ;-)

I'd be happy to handle books
I actually have four on hand already that were sent unrequested by one of our publishing house sponsors from last year.
Meeting with UQAM
I have a meeting with UQAM Monday May 23. I will post any information way before June 9.
Any other who would like to join me at UQAM?

Hello Antoine
Hello Antoine,
The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. There's a sign up section for volunteers on http://groups.drupal.org/node/139054.

Dates
Hi Jake,
I'm pretty sure we're aiming for the 16th, 17th and 18th. A final decision should be made tonight if all goes well.
Confirmed
Yup, it's been confirmed: this year's Drupalcamp Montreal will take place at McGill University on September 16th, 17th and 18th, 2011.
Minutes
Hello everyone, here's what I have down for minutes. I think a few others were taking notes so please correct or add to this as you see fit.
