Start:
2008-11-06 18:30 - 21:00 America/Denver
Event type:
User group meeting

Join us for our next meet-up hosted by East Library (Pikes Peak Library District) on Thursday, November 6th! For this meet-up snacks will be provided at 6:30 p.m. and the actual verbalizing will begin at 7:00 p.m. Unfortunately, our generous host closes at 9 p.m., so we'll have to stop the shenanigans and head on out before that time.

We have no real plan for this one, folks. Comment with what you would like to see happen during this meet-up. Have a module you're really impressed by that you want to show off? Want to talk about Drupal's future? There were a few requests for more insight into theming from the designer crowd at the last one. If you want to talk about something, we'll talk about it.

Regular DBUG attendees are always very welcome!

Meet-up is in Children's Story Room

Because our meeting rooms are filled, we'll be meeting in the Children's Story Room again. For those of you who were at the October meet-up, this is the same room. Everyone else, just follow the signs or ask a Security Officer to show you where it is.

Thanks, and see you there.

Views Theming

I could do a short demo of how to theme different parts of a View, if anyone's interested.

Hopefully our first Drupal site will be live by the meetup. We're supposed to launch on Halloween!

Just to supplement what Mark is talking about, I could go into theming specific content types in greater detail. I don't think that we addressed that very well at the last meet-up, and theming content types and views comprise a more intermediate theming skill set, which is also good.

Views

I'd be interested in a Views overview as well. Just maybe like an intro to it, or something. I haven't worked with Views yet and I'm not sure exactly what it does and how it relates to Drupal as a whole.

Views intro

prestonso's picture

I can talk about what's so cool about Views and give a detailed overview; I have a great example of Views in action up on one of my clients' sites. The only problem is that the site is in D5, so if anyone has a site with Views 2 installed that would be great.

Theming Views?

I would love to see that.

If you could swallow swords I'd be even more impressed, but one semi-mystical feat per evening is enough. :-)

Theming Views and Drupal 6

attheshow's picture

The new site (should be launching in the next couple of hours) is a Drupal 6 site using Views 2. Sure, I'd be happy to show off the site. It's not super-complex, but does have some good basic Views and a decent amount of specifically-themed Views.

Computer With Firefox and Firebug?

attheshow's picture

Fellow library Drupalers,

Is there any chance that we could have a computer that already has Firefox and the Firebug add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843) installed for Thursday's meetup presentations? That way we won't have to take the time to do an install on-location. I'm sure any other theme presenters could make good use of this as well.

Our first Drupal 6 site is live now! Woohoo! :)

Firefox/Firebug

vfranklyn's picture

Hi Mark,

I talked to John George and he is going to have his laptop available for the presentation. It has Firefox, but I'm not sure about Firebug. He asked that you drop him an email at jgeorge@ppld.org to make sure everything is good to go.

Thanks for doing this. Your site looks great, btw!
