Warning message . . .

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I sent a warning message to user Cary Gordon (http://groups.drupal.org/user/2929). Here is the content of the message I sent:

"Your recent posting at http://groups.drupal.org/node/15705 violates one of the rules of job posting:

Please post your job listing to no more than 4 groups. If you post to more than 4 groups, you will get one warning, after which you will have your posting privileges revoked.

I have corrected your post to not include the Las Vegas group and the global Groups.drupal.org group, as I believe those groups have the least relevance based on the content of your posting (although I didn't see anything about libraries, either), and I don't want your posting in my Las Vegas group (it's a pet peeve).

You have been warned.

A copy of this message has been posted to the the Maintenance group for the public to scrutinize: http://groups.drupal.org/node/15805"

I'll add the missing part of the URL after I save the post. Recursion is such a delicate balance.

If I missed a restriction

highermath's picture

If I missed a restriction based on the number of groups allowed, I apologize, although I don't understand why something like that isn't dealt with problematically.

Otherwise, I believe that your post is out of line. As the moderator of a group, I don't consider the group to be my property. Perhaps if you were the only member of the Las Vegas group, I would accept your demand for noblesse oblige, but I don't think that this is the case.

There is no "if" - you did

There is no "if" - you did miss a restriction. It is shown on the page when you create a job. Thats OK though, many of us skip over text like that.

The reason why it is not dealt with programmatically is that noone has volunteered to write the code. I can't exactly hire someone to do so, so I wait. It isn't exactly high priority.

Most importantly, please do not discourage oadaeh or any other editor from enforcing the site guidelines. Thats their job. I should really install user badges module or similar so it is more obvious who the editors are.

Not to worry, Carey

You did a bad thing according to the guidelines. You got pulled up on it. Just don't do it again now that you know where the line is, and all is well. Cool?

Thanks, Carey, for understanding the moderators.
