I know we had a cursory discussion on IRC about renaming the user group due to the fact that it does not encompass only Denver and Boulder any longer. Some ideas are:
- RMDUG - Rocky Mountain Drupal User's Group
- RMUG - Rocky Mountain User's Group
I can't remember the others.
Is this idea worth discussing further, or should we leave it as is for now?
Thanks,
Karyn

I like DBUG...it's a great name for the group; one of the best User Group names I've seen. I don't live in Denver or Boulder...and in no way do I feel left out because of the name of this group.
I vote for no change.
dbug is catchy.
dbug is catchy.
leave it!
I agree, DBUG a very cool name. Additionally I'm partial since I'm located in Denver.
Just say it aloud. DBUG. Way better than RMDUG, that really doesn't roll off the tongue. RMUG is slightly less bad.
Backromym?
I agree "Denver-Boulder User Group" is no longer a good name. At the same time, I like DBUG, and beyond liking it, I value that it's a name very associated with our group. It would be a shame to lose that meaning.
A while ago, the wider Drupal community faced a similar problem with RTBC. I'm not sure what that previously meant, but they kept the same abbreviation, and it now means "Reviewed and Tested By the Community." So all previous referenced to "RTBC" still made sense, but the definition was better.
I suggest we do the same thing with DBUG, and only partially because it gives me an opportunity to use the word backromym, which I enjoy. For example, we could stick with DBUG, and just start defining that as Drupal Brings Understanding to Goats. Or, you know, something that makes sense.
I don't have a good idea for what the new definition of DBUG could be, but I'm sure we could collectively come up with something great.
I like the idea of redefining
I like the idea of redefining the existing acronym.
How about: Drupal's Best User Group (around)!
OH my....
"Drupal Brings Understanding to Goats" cracked me up on this melancholy day! But nothing beats DBUG: "Drupal's Best User Group!" I mean, wow. That is an awesome backronym!
DBUG ++
techgirlgeek++ for the awesome backronym. Much better than "Don't Buy Used Garters"
sreynen++ for using the word backronym
And FWIW, I also think that DBUG is just so cool.
DBUG ++
I am in favor of DBUG also.

Couldn't Denver & Beyond User Group work?
Meh
Sorry to be the contrarian, being an outsider to Denver and Boulder has never much mattered to me or kept me from coming to the meetups.
One could argue that "Rocky Mountain" isn't inclusive enough, since much of Colorado's land mass is outside of the Rocky Mountains and such a name is excluding and someone from Burlington or say Holyoke.
Voting for leaving well enough alone. :)
I'm fine with a new name, but
I'm fine with a new name, but shy away from something like Rocky Mountains (do we claim to represent Canadian interest as well?). I'm also not sure "Drupal's Best User group" is accurate/fair/likely to make friends.
I'm not sure I understand that. We have separate groups for other parts of CO.
I could see renaming this group to "Colorado" since that seems most accurate. We could keep the other Colorado groups, of course, as focused ways of getting content about those areas and then this main group would be one that people could join if they are interested in the whole state.

Hmmm
Been participating in the Denver Boulder Users Group (DBUG) for years. Never thought I didn't belong just because I live in Parker.
Why does it need to be changed?
i agree...
why change at this point...

I'm afraid I don't see a big need to rename the group, and none of the alternatives that I've seen really 'grab' me. But I'm willing to be surprised with a wonderful new name, so I'm not completely closed off from the idea.
