Shared cPanel Login?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I am in the midst of forming a Drupal firm with a friend of mine. The question I have is, how do you guys handle hosting company issues among your partners for development in regards to logging in to upload code? To elaborate, I'm about to pay a hosting company to set up an account for our portfolio website and I'll be developing the back-end and my friend the front-end. Googling turned up results where others are asking the same questions everywhere (because cPanel only allows one username & password), but the answers are pretty much the same: Share login information at your own risk, etc. So I'm just wondering how the pros here do it?

P.S. Thanks to everyone who gave me tips last Wednesday during the Lightning Talks. I think I have a pretty good idea how to get my Drupal firm started.

Use ftp for co-developers, not cPanel

Jay,

cPanel allows you can create multiple ftp users on your web hosting account, enabling co-developers to upload under designated folders through their ftp client.

Actual login to cPanel offers access to your account, including billing information. Co-developers don't need that.

localhost (for dev), drush command line (ssh) for site building and maintenance, and git (plus github account) are central for many drupalers' workflow. There are many workflow methods, personal preferences vary.

Thanks for the tips Larry. I

Thanks for the tips Larry. I also got lots of advice from my own friends, so now I have a pretty good idea of what I need to be doing (I'm currently looking into Bitbucket.org & Virtualmin.com as good alternatives to Github & cPanel). Thanks again.
