Imported 4000 articles... how do I create authors?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi there,

I am trying to move Free Software Magazine to OpenPublish.
I am getting there (although, unfortunately I went a little crazy with customising things, and I am paying for that now... err...).

I imported all of the nodes. Now, I am dealing with "authors". I understand that in OpenPublish each "Author" is a different node. However, I am now in a situation where I have 4000 or so articles, each one authored by the node's uid. I also have a list of "privileged" uids with the right role ("authors"), who can create articles.

What's the easiest way to 1) Create those nodes (I assume one for each user with the right role) 2) Assign them to the article with the right uid.

I would assume this is something rather common... any hints?

Merc.

In the end...

Hi,

In the end, I created the site by doing a "straight" Migration to D7 and using the Omega theme -- and then adding the relevant modules to FSM to have added functionality.

Would you please explain a bit more on what you actually did?

Did you migrate from D6 to D7?
What procedure did you follow? Would you share with us?

Thanks.

I had a "plain" D5 site...

Hi,

I used to have a plain D5 site, which I wanted to migrate to OpenPublish -- in the end I gave up, and upgraded to "plain" D7 instead.

Have a look: http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com

Your site is very fast.

Can you point me to any guide/help how to migrate to D7?

Thanks.

PS. Seems like the UPGRADE.txt file has good information.

@mercmobily

Is it a customized theme?

Yes, but not *that* much

Hi,

Yes, but not that much. I created an Omega sub-theme, set the regions, and did basically the bare minimum number of changes to CSSes etc. so that it looked like that.

I still get all the benefits from any updates to Omega, which is great.

I am absolutely loving this theme. It looks perfect (and I mean: perfect) on any mobile device too.
