Timeline

Agreed - we need to develop a timeline- some deadlines.

Itangalo:

By early january:

1) We make flesh out the taxonomy tree for basic/adv. site building, and add it to the broad taxonomy of skill sets.

In 2-3 months

2) linclark sets up an aggregation site

3) tutr.tv, nearlythere and anyone interested starts using the web taxonomy on docs content. linclark sets up a (temporary) site that can be used for adding more stuff, linked from the web in general.

Task: Protoype mock up

heather's picture

Develop a prototype with two end points as a publisher and a learner.

Linclark requests a draft taxonomy, but I can build the module for the skillset Web Taxonomy once we have that

Jacob suggests we outline the taxonomy clearly and then start inputting content attached to those topics to flesh out the demonstration.

Itangalo recommends both basi and advanced site building. Heather agrees, since there is much material and the skills are essential.

All agreed!

what if terms change or are updated/deleted?

heather's picture

what would happen if the sub-terms on a particular term were altered, in name? or even with terms deleted or added?

From linclark:

if their names are changed, then the name would be updated on the local site when the admin ran 'Update vocabulary'

additions to a vocabulary would show up in the drop down automatically

Deletion is not designed for yet.

Heather suggests possibly we could use versioning to control this problem.

Sketch for time plan

Some kind of dream scenario:
1) We make flesh out the taxonomy tree for basic/adv. site building, and add it to the broad taxonomy of skill sets.
2) linclark sets up an aggregation site, to collect content from a few listed sites, based on the web taxonomy
3) tutr.tv, nearlythere, drupalize.me and anyone interested starts using the web taxonomy on docs content. linclark sets up a (temporary) site that can be used for adding more stuff, linked from the web in general – so we can add in content from sites that aren't using the web taxonomy.

Step (1) could be done within a month. Then we try to do as much as possible of steps (2) and (3) within another two months.

Good fit for DrupalDojo.com?

If interested, we'd 'still' love to offer DrupalDojo.com as a testing ground. Documenting the building of this also would make for great learning material.

It would be a great fit for DrupalDojo!

Please keep an eye on this space, and if you can, join the next meetings.

We also need help describing the skill sets.

Glad to hear :) I'll be documenting the building of the aggregation site and the publishing tools (parts 2 and 3) as part of my Masters thesis. I think other open source projects might want to replicate it, since the documentation problem we face is one that challenges other OS projects as well.
