Drupal Internships?

As usual, this year's Summer of Code program had way more qualified students and proposals than it did slots. As a result there are some students with amazing potential who will not be getting directly engaged through this program. But- the Summer of Code isn't the only avenue we have to getting students more involved in the community, there are also summer internships at many companies (I know, for example, that Zivtech will likely be looking for a Drupal intern for the summer). So, with that in mind, I'd like to ask any companies/developers who are looking for interns to post the opportunity here, and for students who didn't make it this time to speak up if they'd be interested in a summer internship. Hopefully together we can make sure that no potential Drupal rockstars slip through the cracks!

As I have mentioned it many times before, I am definitely looking for an opportunity to work with Drupal. I think in a duration of 3-4 months, I would be able to make a good contribution to Drupal and the company I would be working for. Do count me in if you think I am eligible enough to work on a project.

Just like we have a job board, we need to focus on internships. Alex UA, we need an interface for this.

We need an intern to create a job/internship interface for Drupal.

Stipends at Drupal shops?

Just wondering if there was any common formula for providing stipends at Drupal shops. Would it fall somewhere along the lines of what Google offers (roughly $4500 for 3 months work)?

Assuming there's a good deal of variation, it would be good to hear a range of incentives offered.

....we're crafting a project based learning program which is both inspired by the Google programs (why reinvent something that works), yet will cater to the wide ranging needs of the Drupal community and economy. Ideally the program will provide a means for companies offering internships and/or apprenticeships to interface with the larger community, your local Drupal group, pool resources (funds/talent/etc.), while still focusing on your priorities.

What may currently look familiar will evolve based on valuable feedback from those posting here...

Good morning Gus,

I've been running an internship program for Philippine interns for 3 years. This year was my largest group - 5 interns. One thing I tried this year was to select the group first. Second, I asked them to come together as a group with the amount they needed and how much time they could spend per week. I plan to write up what I've learned over the next few months.

In my case, I am working for a company and do the internships on the side for a number of reasons but mostly to give back to my parent's home country. I can't compete with the Google stipend but at the same time, I have something to teach the kids and think I can compete with local companies in the Philippines while offering a rich experience / American perspective on IT.

Internship in France

We already have an offer for in internship, and I'd be especially interested if this is for a student working on the open document SoC proposal, which didn't make it.

I did apply for the Google Summer of Code and my project proposal can be found at http://groups.drupal.org/node/20961. As far as my background is concerned, I am presently living in India and I have done a basic course in French under a French teacher. Now, I am not so fluent but I can manage quite a bit conversing in French which I suppose would suffice for completing the project. I did try to contact you through the website but it seems I am not authorised to do so. I am genuinely interested in completing this project and am sure I would be given proper consideration for the same.

We would be receptive to bringing on a SoC intern at Mediacurrent in Atlanta - like others have noted would prefer ability to work on-site, but would look at East (maybe Central) Coast based time zone to better faciliate communication.

If there's anyone in austin, texas who wanted to be in GSOC, we certainly would be interested in giving you a plan-b to GSOC. We'll pay the same stipend initially, and maybe [hopefully] increase it based on performance [i'm totally against paying people less than they are worth]. The fine print is:
