At the Drupal for Churches BoF (at DrupalCon Denver), we discussed the idea of discussing things like OpenChurch and Open Parish (and things that would revolve around Church-specific distributions and features) on Groups.Drupal.org. Here's a quick post just to kick off the discussion!

A question I have - for what is the 'Discussion' tab used (the one at the top of the Group home page). It seems like it'd be a good place to have Discussion posts, but there is nothing there right now :-/
Discussions
Good question. I clicked on the tab and nothing.. But I clicked on the Churches tab and some content came up. Then I noticed the 'Create Discussion' over on the right.. So I guess you have to officially create a discussion for it to show up once the Discussions tab is clicked.

Hi Jay,
I'm interested in helping this project move forward. I'd be willing to install and test things out as needed.

Sounds good!
I update the issue queue fairly often with progress/priority/etc.

And so when I have people help test things out, it's very helpful. Particularly the dev version as I am waiting on incremental releases until things are tested out in dev.

OpenChurch
Hi Jay,
I'm no ninja, but I'll check out the issue queue. And I'll install OpenChurch and play around with it a bit and let you know how it went.
Sounds good!
And I especially need people who will help test out versions in dev. A lot of times the ticket issuer will help me test fixes but I can use all the help I can get to get updates out the door. I am trying to be more careful/organized with my OC releases to cut down on bugs.

openchurch dev
Hey Jay,
I installed openchurch-7.x-1.x-dev-core.tar.gz. I had to bump up my php execution time in Lampp, but it installed ok with some errors. I'll check the issue queue before submitting any issues.
I'll try out openchurch-7.x-1.9-alpha2-core.tar.gz too.
Drupalcon
It was great meeting everyone at the bof at Drupalcon. We had a nice crowd.
Helping out
Hey Jay,
Its good this group has kind of started on fire again. For some of you who know me you know I am not a full time Webdev guy. I discovered my passion a bit late in life but I have spent the last 4+ years working with Drupal. My desire is to someday replace my full time job in Radiation Health and Safety with a job working with Drupal. Most of what I know I have learned from people like Matt and Rob, self-study, and Google. I find I have learned the most by working on a project getting stumped and searching for the answer.
All that being said I would love to help out in any way I can. I sometimes ask too many questions and fear I am getting on peoples nerves. I spend my lunch hours and most of my evenings working in Drupal so if you'll promise to tell me when I am getting annoying I'll promise to help in anyway I can.
