Don't buy your tickets yet!
Sorry, there's been some last minute discussion about changing the media sprint to Denver, to coincide with the Denver DrupalCamp. I'll try to have the details and final decision made in the next few days.
Please chime in if this would affect your involvement one way or another.
Thanks,
Aaron

We (Open Media Project) were already planning on participating remotely, but if the sprint is held in Denver we'll definitely be involved on a more intimate level. Either way, we're looking forward to it!

:(
It makes sense to align with the camp, but with our client work and other conferences it's unlikely that we'll be going to Denver.
Boston sprint at a later date?
I can see the reasoning in moving the sprint to Denver to coincide with DrupalCamp and also interface with the folks working on the Open Media Project. Per some of the IRC and email conversations, it looks like July may be a good time for a Boston sprint (or somewhere else on the east coast)? By that time we may have a format to have ongoing Media sprints/sessions on a regional basis.
Think that makes total sense

That seems reasonable to me.
That seems reasonable to me. Would be good for keeping up momentum, especially if we plan out the time of a few of these in advance.

Working on the master plan...
I'm working on revising the Media sessions to incorporate both regional and virtual events.
RE: Funding - I think there's some leeway in terms of coming up w/ a hard figure. Seems like this figure would be adjusted to reflect the travel cost for the team as well as actual development to reach that milestone.

Those wanting to support marketing and training (in addition to development) can do so by channeling funds through the Drupal Kata (project-based training program).

What about on the final day of the Open Video Conference?
I just signed up to attend the Open Video Conference in NYC on June 19-21, which the Open Media folks are going to be at as well, and they have a "hack day" planned for Sunday the 21st (I know what you're thinking, "but Alex, you're a hack every day!"). If anyone else is able to make it to NYC, would it make sense to to a Media sprint there?

Support for Denver and what about Design4Drupal at MIT?
I'm planning to go to Drupal Camp Denver so I'd love to participate. Been dying to see how these php stream wrappers will work with external providers.
Also, anyone going to Design4Drupal at MIT? That is coming up also!

Have we reached a consensus?
Have we decided to have the media sprint in Denver? If so, we should coordinate with the local organizers to figure out how to fit this in. Could this be a separate track at the Camp? An adjunct event, possibly at a different venue? Generally speaking, I'd like to see a more focused effort along the lines of Design For Drupal. We already have a very good foundation to build off.
Do we have a final answer?

Denver...
The downside is that with so much exciting stuff at the camp, we probably won't get as much sprinting done. On the other hand, it's good exposure for the efforts, and can hopefully draw more developers & interest.
Talking with folks in IRC, it seems as though there's more interest in having the sprint in Denver, though.
Denver it is! We'll need to plan a follow-up sprint, even if it's virtual.

Sprint on Monday
Don't forget that the bulk of the sprinting will actually happen on the Monday (June 29) following DrupalCamp Colorado, hosted by Denver Open Media. Any sprinting at the camp will be more informal and spontaneous -- come find me if you want to know how to help, and come to the session about Drupal Media on Sunday, June 28, at 2:30 PM!
See you there!

DCC Media BOFs?
All,
Any chance of having a BOF/code walkthrough on Saturday at DCC? I know you are doing the Sunday afternoon session and Monday sprint. However, I have to fly out Sunday night and would not be able to stay for Monday.
I'd love to get a quick code walk through and maybe some takeaway suggestions for how I can help.
Wish I could stay for Monday :(
I'm on the east coast though so if I can get up to speed then perhaps when you do another Boston sprint I can join (and be productive).
