Hey folks,

I finally got a Learn Drupal series going on Drupalize.Me (http://drupalize.me/series/learn-drupal-ladder). The first video is a lightning talk size presentation, based on the slides from Bryan and Brock's lightning talk in DC. I was going to get the Git video up as well, but I want to clean up the lesson itself a little based on comments and such before I record it. I'll just keep working through the lessons in the ladder and make videos on them as I go.

The videos can be embedded, so if we want to add the videos to the lesson pages, that should be doable. I'll let someone else decide/do that though, because I don't know that everyone agrees about doing that. (To grab the embed code, go to the video page, e.g. http://drupalize.me/videos/overview-learn-drupal-project, and then under the video on the right side there is a Share button, which will pop up the embed code for you.)

We will be introducing closed-captioning and translations on the site soon, hopefully next week, so I'll also start spreading the word about getting people to volunteer to transcribe and translate the videos as well. If anyone here is interested in helping with that, please let me know by leaving a comment, or sending me through my contact form.

I'm definitely open to feedback and suggestions with the videos, and I recognize that they are likely to change over time. For the Overview presentation, I talk about the short-term goals we have for August 2012, and I figure that once we get to August I can update the video with either new goals, or just remove that section. If there are other parts of that video that need correction/updating, just let me know and I'll try to keep it as accurate and relevant as possible.

Transcribing

I can help out with transcribing! We still have a pedal floating around from when my wife worked at a court reporting company, so if I can get my hands on MP3s of the audio, I can even be efficient about it!

Thanks!

Hey Brock,

The system we are using for transcription and translation is dotSUB.com. Unfortunately we can't do the transcripts from just audio because the subtitles need to be matched to the video playback. If you're still game to give it a try, just get an account on dotsub.com, if you don't have one already, and then let me know your dotSUB username.

You can watch a video from dotSUB about how creating a transcription works here: http://dotsub.com/view/e6562923-a6eb-4c6b-a6c7-ffed4a2848a5
