We should decide that soon, I think. I put together a design that I think is pretty hot and in tune with the new theme for drupaldelphia. They have to be paid for, tho, so we'll need a sponsor or decide on a registration fee that will cover them. I'd like to order them in the next 7 days or so in order to be sure we'll have them in time. I know a few suppliers that do good work, but I'm open to suggestion there.
I'm attaching the design.

*fun design footnotes!
The design is inspired by the very first political cartoon published in the US, and created by Ben Franklin.

and the DONT TREAD ON ME flag (Gadsden flag), both icons of early america with roots in Philly

Wow!
This design is just completely awesome. Love the classic look, the Don't Treat on Me allusion, the Franklin/Philadelphia connections... The whole thing just works. So great.
I like the design!
My only comment would be: please use American Apparel t-shirts if we get shirts. They are slightly more expensive, but vastly superior to other shirts...

Def agree that we should get
Def agree that we should get quality. I like vgkids.com from MI but I'm cool to use someone local if anyone has a good suggestion. Here's their quote for 80 shirts (does not include shipping):
American Apparel Fine Jersey Tee $9.70/shirt
http://www.vgkids.com/
for comparison here are their other shirts:
Gildan Ultra Cotton Tee $5.1
Gildan Ultra Blend Tee $5.1
Jerzees Heavyweight Blend Tee $5.1
Tultex Cotton Unisex Short Sleeve $5.45
Fruit of the Loom Heavy Cotton Tee $5.1
American Apparel Fine Jersey Tee $9.7
Hanes Beefy Cotton $6.61

ChoiceShirts.com?
They're local. They sponsored Philly Bar Camp. They might offer a deal. At the very least, there's no shipping charge for PA destinations.
The ? is what are the funds
choiceshirts looks good. My concern at this point is that I don't think we've definitively decided if/what to charge. If we're keeping it free then I love the DIY ideas below, but if we're charging then I'd like to have crisp new 2 color shirts for the attendees. I think we need to decide the money question very soon and start accepting registrations.
If we do charge and will have revenue then we still need someone to volunteer to pay the printer up front. A sponsor would be ideal I think but barring that we could split the costs between some of the organizing companies, and pay each back when we collect the registrations.

Nice Design!
Nice design! My only comment is the red added to the snake slices make it, um, unnecessarily gory compared with Franklin's woodcut.
But otherwise, looking good!
Who can say that Ben
Who can say that Ben wouldn't have done the same if he just had some red ink? :)

If we're using these to offset costs...
Love the design!
I just picked up t-shirts at AC Moore in South Philly for a project - they were $2 each. They were Hanes 50/50 cotton, listed as $5.10 above. If we're selling 80 shirts, then that's a diff of about $600 between AA shirts and AC Moore's Hanes.
I recommend RECLAIM!!
Yall might want to check out Reclaim on Bmore ave. soon to have their work drupalized: http://tinyurl.com/l9f2cj
4820 Baltimore Ave.
Reclaim looks cool -- I also
Reclaim looks cool -- I also like the idea of using a local Philly shop, and not having to pay for shipping would be nice.
Local is def good and I like
Local is def good and I like the personality behind reclaim. Couldn't tell from the video tho. Are they up to producing a run of shirts like this? Do they have competitive pricing?

DIY?
If we knock out the red as suggested above it would be super simple (take an hour) to create our own screenprinting frame of the design. Then we can either just purchase shirts and print them ourselves...OR we can have people bring their own shirts and screenprint them at the convention...OR we can do both and give people the option. We could print up five of each size (sorry but half L and half XL sucks for wraith-skinny people) and sell them for $10. If people want to bring their own shirt we can print it for $5.
I have a frame I can donate as well as some black ink.
DIY / Sizes
DIY shirts are cool, but I'd only want to do it if we decide not to have a run professionally printed. I wouldn't want to have competing shirts at the conference.
I take your point about multiple sizes, tho. I think when we accept registrations we'll ask what their shirt size is and take those into account when we place the order.

Also on the red...
Adding a second color of ink is going to drastically increase the price if we go to a printer.
Most printers I've used in
Most printers I've used in the past don't raise the prices too much for the second screen. The shirt quality is the larger expense.

Nice design. I agree with
Nice design. I agree with using better quality t-shirts and getting them printed professionally. I for one wouldn't mind spending a little more for a good t-shirt that will last me a little longer.
