Vagrant-based deployment?

Hi, folks,

I know that tizzo and others use vagrant, and I'm starting to drink the kool-aid. Anyone have a tutorial about how to manage multiple tiers? For example, when I work on a project locally, I want to point at my local database, but if I'm doing an update to an existing production site, I want to push out a new AWS EC2 (or whatever) that points to the production database. I presume I do this with puppet somehow, but if anyone has some best practices or tutorials, I'd be very grateful. Cheers,

-Larry

RFP: Help NTEN build an online benchmarking tool

I hope this is appropriate for this group - I know a bunch of you do Drupal development for non-profits. NTEN, the Nonprofit Technology Network, has fielded an RFP for an online benchmarking tool to help nonprofits more easily find and compare their organizations to data about nonprofit technology staffing and investments from our annual research.

Looking A Local Aegir Pro

Fellow Drupaldelphians I am in desperate need of someone that is Aegir fluent. I am working on a personal project and I think Aegir is the solution. If you have about 30 minutes for some question and answering I would greatly appreciate it.

My main question is do i need to be fluent in Apache to manage this system?

Shoot me a message if you have some time.

Thanks,

Will

Higher Education Track at Drupaldelphia 2011?

As you may know, Drupaldelphia 2011 is being held at Temple University on July 29th. At the last meetup we discussed having a "Drupal in Higher Ed track" (possibly with more than 1 presentation per time slot), and I'm wondering if there's interest in making it happen, and whether it would be useful to the edu folks at the camp.

Quick question

I'm trying to find a product that was mentioned back when we were planning Drupaldelphia 2010 (in February?) Someone showed us a web-based application that allowed two or more people to type on a page simultaneously and each saw the other's inputs in real time.

If I recall correctly, Google bought the company and then just let the product languish. I have a real good use for something like it - but can't remember the name! I've looked at Google's list of things: http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/ but I don't see it here.

Thanks,
Eric

Drupaler in need of project scoping help

Hello fine Drupal folks,

I am in the process of developing a scope of work estimation for a potential Drupal client. I am relatively new to this, and would appreciate someone looking over my work. Is there anyone in the Old City, Center City, or University City area with a good amount of experience scoping and pricing Drupal projects that would be willing to meet with me for around 30 minutes this Tuesday or Wednesday (July 12/13)?

On Tuesday I am free before 12:30 and after 2:30. On Wednesday I'm flexible. More than willing to compensate with money, food, or beer.

complicated referencing and specific order of OTHER nodes from inside a node

This one has me itching my head.
I'm working on a project for a client that has events.

These events are sponsored.

There are 3 tiers of sponsors.
Gold, Silver, Bronze.

I have a content type for sponsors.
That content type has .. title, logo, body... (I really only need it for the LOGO)

When making a new Event node, the author needs to be able to select sponsors that are in one of the ranks (gold, silver, bronze...)
"So, that's easy!" everyone says at the same time, "just use node_reference..."

Ah ha! not so fast.

Event Calendar

I was wondering if anyone has been successful in building an organization event calendar.

I have followed several howtos, and always seem to get stuck when the events are listed in the calendar view at the time of creation of the node, instead of the date of the event.

Other issues, such as how to create multi-day events, etc are also troubling 9I have not gotten that far)

I would also love to have a "Upcoming events block" that lists the next several upcoming event nodes, and automatically selects for the next week. (I actually got this close to working, but screwed it up)
