The Drupal Tokyo Group, the newest Drupal group located in Japan is considering holding mini-gatherings at Ikebukuro. Currently Sundays at 13:00 is the candidate time and day but I'd like to hear from you guys if you can attend better if it were weekdays.
Look what I found !!! This is Hacker's paradise. 。
http://www.sakura-cafe.asia/english/
Food is French served by 3 star restaurant chef. Starting at 500 yen for Lunch.
60 beer imports, also half-priced. 60
Half of the inside is actually a PC cafe, additionally with wireless access and electrical jacks.
I stopped by last night and I saw about a dozen European tourists.
I'd be here even if there was no Drupal meetup, btw.
Let me know what you guys think!
Tokyo Group is a small teams based study group located in Tokyo that was started recently so that Drupalers in Tokyo can casually meet up at a bar or something, or hold quick hacking sessions. If you happen to know other great places please let me know.
Best regards,

Do you prefer weekends?
Do you prefer weekends? or weekdays?
Scoped the place out and actually held a brief IT meeting. Found the place a bit pricier than expected, electrical jacks are only available at a standing section, the available PC's are 100yen/15min, never the less has wireless and spaced out public seating area. The food wasn't fabulous, but still around 1000yen(or less) and import beers were 850yen.
Ended up making friends with a couple guys from Spain at random. Good place to meet people.
I'll try this place this
I'll try this place this Saturday for an online meeting (3pm to 7pm) with Drupal folks in Hong Kong. For Tokyo meetups, I can do either weeknights or weekends. At HKDUG we try to organize a monthly meetup on the last Thursday of every month. So we'll need to do at least one week night a month if we want to do remote sessions together.
(BTW, found a house in Nakanobu last Friday & moving this coming Sunday, thanks for all who responded to the other thread and helped!)
Cheers,
-Nick
Saturday
I'll try to make it there this Saturday, and ask some others to join.
FYI, a section close to the cafe in Ikebukuro is turning out to become a small China town, and there are actually talks to start one now. I sincerely wish that a Yamcha place with Chinese pricing would exist.
At Shinjuku NS building, at the top floors if it's still there, there is an excellent Chinese restaurant, and other good restaurants, it'd be a nice place for you to check out.
Anyways, if it works out hope to meet up with you.
Best regards,
Scott
Cool! There are still a lot
Cool! There are still a lot of stuff I need to do like get a keitai, appliances, electric and water service... I could pick your brain before the meeting starts.
Hope to see you tomorrow.
Hey sorry Fuji, looks like I
Hey sorry Fuji, looks like I won't be able to make it. I've having bad stomach ache since last night, if this continues, I might need to go to the hospital!
I'll see u guys next time.
Stress,
Hope you work your health situation out soon.
With regards to electric appliance, this is what I recommend. There are two retail stores that you want to shop at. "Bic Camera" or "Yodobashi"(my first choice Yodobashi, either is fine). Get a members point card right away (make sure you know your home or office address).
You can store your points, or if you buy one expensive appliance, receive points and you can make second purchase like immediately after with those points. Second purchase is guaranteed major discount (like sometimes free) if first purchase is significant. It's quite amazing (works well for tourists) and you can ask how much discount you can get from the first purchase so you can spend as little as possible on the second purchase. What area to shop?, well anyone could tell you Akihabara (for variety, the stores are huge) but if you happen to see a BIC or Yodobashi, any other area (e.g. Shinjuku, Ikebukuro) has similar prices. They also have additional insurance for any major electrical appliance purchases. Anything I'd want at Yodobashi (they also sell other items, sometimes at other buildings), I'd get it at Yodobashi, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Can anyone add to this?
I wish I could come

Yeah!! Nice meeting all of you! Really had fun yesterday!
Matt, are you using Flex for your Drupal Flash sites? - http://devzone.zend.com/article/2660
Dave, the above link may be useful for your project.
Yes, it was great meeting
Yes, it was great meeting you all. Definitely a lot of fun. Those wine bottles went pretty fast with hilarious results. hehe :)
Flex is great but it is too expensive and too much of a mental investment for us. The same things can be achieved with AMFPHP module which is a great Drupal module and works on top of the Services module.
The vino was nice up until conversation became incomprehensible
Thanks for the links and suggestions regarding Flex. Sorry, my forums updates get sent to my junk address so I'll have to update that.
Matt, I'm looking forward to seeing your sites a little more in depth and hearing about your progress on becoming a Japanese citizen.
