Hey everybody,

I want to let everyone know about a mentoring program that I'm organizing for a group of students that I'll be training over the next few months.

The tl:dr version is this: I run a 10-week, 70-hour Drupal training program in Brevard County, Florida (home of Kennedy Space Center) for recently laid-off residents. With the retirement of the Space Shuttle, there have been over 8,000 layoffs - many of these people are skilled IT workers looking for new careers.

In addition to the classroom training, there are also mandatory lab hours, and selected students will be offered follow-on internships with organizations using Drupal all over the country (please let me know if you're interested in hosting an intern - at no cost to your organization).

Anyway, this being the 2nd edition of the program, we've decided to expand it a bit based on lessons learned the first time around. One of those additions is the "DrupalEasy Community Mentors" - I'd like to find one community mentor for each of the 20 students to help guide and assist their student in contributing back to the Drupal community.

If you're interested, or know someone who is, please read more about the program (and find the link to the application) here: http://drupaleasy.com/dcsp/drupal-community-mentors

Thanks,
-mike
